Happy birthday to all the December babies! (If you’re like some of my relatives, I’m sorry you only ever got one present at this time of year… You are still very special!)

Yayyyy! I love Bobbi Brown @greeneyedgirl107 😍 Nordstrom does GWPs, but they aren't plentiful like some other stores.

Jokes aside, I always tell people born around this time of year to just think of it as millions of ppl preparing and celebrating for YOUR special day. Their birthdays aren't overshadowed in my eyes. They have pretty lights to look at, ppl are generally nicer, and things are on SALE! Who doesn't love a good deal and sparkly things to adorn themselves with?! The season in itself is a gift 😊

I had to search high and low for this thread @JoSometimes, clicking and scrolling before my brain decided to join the chat and just go directly to Haul Stars. Lol.

The UPS man just left a couple of my orders and I am glad to have found the Dec haul thread 💖

@furbie  Oh sure, the 2-for-1 gift is funny now—I can laugh about it now—but it did not spark joy during childhood. 😂 Especially if your sibling’s birthday aligns with Spring Break, when your family travels annually to a certain rodent-infested theme park and your sibling gets to enjoy all the rides and attractions and stuff and gets birthday presents. It ain’t right. It just ain’t right. Some of us December kids quickly outgrow the expectation of birthday gifts, and to this day we’re still shocked whenever someone remembers our special day. 😅

I'm sorry to hear about your birthday experience, @WinglessOne ! 😖  There's no excuse for December babies to get shorted, whether it's presents or acknowledgement.  I was born on Christmas day and my parents insisted on no 2 for 1.  We celebrated my birthday with breakfast then had Christmas.  It may have had something to do with my uncle (mom's brother) being born on Christmas...yea, it runs in the family.

@Titian06  Oh wow, I’m glad (and impressed) your parents celebrated your special day separately from the holiday! Happy early birthday to you! 

As annoying as the 2-for-1 was in childhood, it was more often from other relatives than my parents (though still, my brother often got to spend his birthday at Disney World and I may never fully get over that 😂). I learned to expect and honestly appreciate small birthday gifts and even just acknowledgement. I did get to spend my birthday at Disney one year in my early 40s. 🤣

I have a little cousin whose birthday is Dec 21st. I make sure to get him a couple of extra gifts than I get his siblings because of what you stated. I can only imagine how many kids feel overlooked growing up during the holidays because their family is spent during that time. But that's why planning/budgeting is important.
