Pigmentation is key, my absolute favorite palettes and go-to's are Lorac Pro, Modern Renaissance by Anastasia Beverly Hills, Naked Heat by Urban Decay, and a couple of the different Morphe palettes! Absolutely love them!

I think it depends on what looks you gravitate towards! In my opinion the Kat Von D Shade and Light is amazing, it's an awesome neutrals palette! Another favourite is the UD Naked Heat and the ABH Modern Renaissance 💖

Get the urban decay nake palette1. It has pigmented, transition, and dark colours. This is my favourite palette all the time.

Omg where to start lol ?? Im a palette junkie so the list can go on but.

These are just a few  of many but def my favs for pigment, blending, staying power, and versatility, day to night etc.

1.  Urban Decays eyeshadow palettes were super hot a few years back and flew off the shelves here.  They have many now, but I'd say they are def classics , and you can't ever go wrong with their shadows so I'd totally suggest starting with them for beginners, great classics,  no crazy color combos which could throw you off if you don't know what your doing so yea start there.  

2. Anastasia BH has 2 out now I believe one is modern renaissance, which I think everyone had to have and is great,

3. HUDA's rose gold 24k is a great newer edition that was A Must have for many of Us! 

4. Too Faced would be up there with their chocolate Bar and sweet peach.

OK I don't want to overwhelm you Bc there's just so many left that deserve to be listed but those above are what I love and came right to mind.  

One more brand for you to keep in mind that are pretty infamous for being loved by many is Morphe.  Don't think sephora sells them but they are fabulous for many reasons.  With that being said first compared to the above mentioned,  they are not only much larger in size but also less expensive than the above mentioned which usually are all around 50$ Plus but absolutely all worth it.

It's just that these Morphe eye shadow palettes are def  jumbo compared to most of sephoras top sellers.  They are basically no frills nothing fancy just solid plain black palettes filled with color variations or shades in the same family like browns, taupes, gold, coppers, neutrals, and classified by a number like 350F and not "named" also significantly less expensive and  just as pigmented, extremely easy to blend, and not a variation of crazy colors most people wouldn't know what to do with and where and how to apply.

The Huda Beauty rose gold eye shadow palette!!! Do not sleep on her!!! Just make sure to use the textured foil shadows with a finger since they do not pick on a brush very well.

Modern Renaissance Bevelery Hills or Too Face Peach Palette. These were the first two eyeshadow palettes I purchased ever for starting on eyeshadow.

The tartelette in bloom is my favorite. It smells like chocolate, it blends amazingly, and it's perfect for light makeup days or dramatic. I have most of the naked palettes and the first one was my first palette but I think the tarte is better quality and easier to work with for a beginner. The naked on doesn't have enlighten crease shades or a dark matte color for the outter v or lower lash line. It also has a lot of colors most people don't use on a regular basis like a sparkly blue.

I started with the Urban Decay Naked Palette, then became obsessed and bought all of the rest lol. But hands down, my two favorite are the Modern Renaissance palette and Too Faced Peach Palette. They both have incredible pigmentation so they have lasted me quite some time!

I recently tried Anastasia Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette and was surprised at how buttery and pigmented the shadows apply. I've had Too Faced The Chocolate Bar (original palette) and like it fairly well. I'm planning to get the Too Faced Just Peachy Matte now that I'm into pinks and mattes! Urban Decay Naked and Tartelette in Bloom are also pretty popular.

I think my two most often used palettes are Anastasia Beverly Hills in Modern Renaissance and Urban Decay (pick your favorite) Naked Palette. Both sets of palettes will have neutrals in both matte and shimmery and you'll get enough colors to really toy with and find your favorite style.  If it's still available, the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette is on sale. ❤️

Gah!  And don't forget:  a good primer will help keep a lasting look for your eyeshadows.  It might seem like, "oh great another add on product" but it really sets everything in place.

I use literally any clear-ish primer for the lids of my eyes.  I've used smashbox's photo ready? I think it's called... primer, Laura Mercier's clear foundation primer, NARS... I've not really noticed any differences between them.
