Ugh! Oh my eyes! Super dark under circles

So Iโ€™m not sure what to do about the super dark dark dark under eyes I have. What can I use? What routines can I start doing? Am I making themworse? What causes dark undereyes? What is the beat product and how do Iapply it? Any help is greatly appreciated. Does rubbing your eyes damage my skin? Ty

Re: Ugh! Oh my eyes! Super dark under circles

Yep, rubbing your eyes can make dark circles worse since thatโ€™s typically the thinnest, most delicate skin on your face. Itโ€™s one of the reasons I have them: allergies and excessive eye rubbing. ๐Ÿ˜ž Other causes include sun damage, hollow sunken skin, your genes (dark circles can be hereditary), lack of sleep, and a few medical conditions.

The only real solution for hollow skin and hereditary dark circles is an injectable filler. Juvaderm is probably the most popular one. You can try a very hydrating/moisturizing serum, cream, or oil to plump up your undereye skin a bit, but know that no eye cream/serum/etc. will give you the same results as a dermal filler.

For sun damage, use a serum/cream/etc. with lots of antioxidants, and make sure you bring your sunscreen all the way up to your eyes. Vitamin C can help brighten the undereye area.

In addition to allergies and eye rubbing, my dark circles are caused by hollow tear troughs and lack of sleep, and probably some sun damage from my sunscreen-less teens and 20s. (ALWAYS wear your sunscreen, kids!) My undereyes are also the driest skin on my face. To combat my sun damage (and tighten up my crepey undereye skin), I use DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum daily. At night, I top it with KORA Organics Noni Glow Radiant Eye Oil .34 oz / 10 mL  which is very moisturizing and can plump skin up a bit. In the morning, I use Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel as my eye cream, and I top that with the same sunscreen I use all over my face. First Aid Beauty makes an eye cream that sounds kinda similar to the Dr. Dennis Gross serum I use... FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Retinol Eye Cream with Triple Hyaluronic Acid , which I havenโ€™t tried. (Itโ€™s relatively new.) A lot of people like Drunk Elephant C-Tangoโ„ข Vitamin C Eye Cream 0.5 oz/ 15 mL  ; that one didnโ€™t work well for me, but your mileage may vary.

I hope some of this helped!

Re: Ugh! Oh my eyes! Super dark under circles

@Ebohh   Hey there!  Dark under eye shadows are a frustrating problem.  Nothing will cure them, so you just have to find the right products that work for you to minimize their appearance.

I am not knowledgeable about concealers, but I have found three products that help make my circles less obvious.

The first one is something I bought this week, but really like.  It's Lancome's Advanced Genifique Yeux Light Pearl Concentrate.  It depuffs the eye area because it contains caffeine, and the light reflecting particles in it do a good job of making the dark areas seem less severe.  It won't cover them up, it just makes them less noticeable.

Biossance has a Squalane and Peptide Eye Gel that is moisturizing, soothing, and smoothes the skin for any concealer or corrector application.

Instead of a concealer, I've been using Bobbi Brown's Under Eye Corrector.  I know most people add a concealer on top of this, but I have found that the corrector counteracts my dark circles enough that I'm satisfied with the results.  I use the shade light bisque because I have very dark blue under eye shadows.  Medium to Dark Bisque might be a good shade for you.  Each shade of this product has a good description of the type of circles they are meant to cover.

If you have a Sephora store that is convenient to you, you could go there and get a better look at the corrector shades.

Also, if you go to Biossance's website, you can choose two samples of their products for $5 in shipping; the Peptide Eye Gel is included in that selection.

I hope you find something that works well for you!
