What's a good eyeliner to buy for a newbie?

I say as a beginner stay away from liquid eyeliner and practice with a pencil or kohl liner. Watch YouTube videos on tips and tricks and practice practice practice.

A pencil or gel pencil liner will be more forgiving than a liquid. Application is slower and more controlled, and you can smoke it out a bit both for a nice look and to hide any imperfections as you learn. I have a few of Sephora's store brand and I quite like them.
