Hello, how do you get bright vibrant eyeshadows to show on your eyes such as yellow or orange colors?

I cannot get them to show really vibrant.

I either use a lighter colored primer like the NARS Smudge Proof Shadow Base or a white base like NYX milk pencil or the white from the ABH lip palette.

I don’t really use eyeshadow primers so what i do is get some concealer about two shades too light for me and use that as a base, then for this specific look I used a little bit of bright pink liquid lipstick from dose of colors to help the bright pink eyeshadow stand out more. My lighting sucks lol but in person this pink is bright and neon and the yellow is too.

This look is stunning!

I use a white base like a white eyeshadow stick or white concealer and not set it: it might be difficult to blend but you’ll get it to look really vibrant! Hope this helps!! Best wishes

@xniax29 It's possible the shadows themselves are the problem. I spent years looking for a good yellow eyeshadow before I found one that actually had decent color payoff!

To demonstrate, I did some quick eye swatches of the yellow and the orange from the Viseart Warm Neutral Mattes palette. (The two from the right side of the palette.) These were applied with a brush, over bare skin. No primer or base of any kind.

Here's the orange: IMG_20190530_122234.jpg

Alternatively, you could get a cream shadow instead. I find that cream shadows are often more pigmented. (Though they can be difficult to work with and prone to creasing.) To name a good one, on the left eye in that photo above is the MUFE Aqua XL Color Paint in M-70 Orange. I just got it, and I was doing a wear test today-- that's what it looks like after six hours of wear with no primer.

If these options are out of your price range, I've also heard good things about the indie brand Sugarpill's Pressed Shadows in Flamepoint and Buttercup.

@xniax29 Try getting a light/white concealer or opaque primer to layer them over! It's just like using a base coat for nail polish to help the colors "pop" more. No matter what color you use it will be slightly sheer/blend over your skin color so making the base white can help add vibrancy and keep the color more true- like for example everything looks way more pink after it's applied to my eyes unless there's a colored/white concealer underneath
