Good eye photos

Hello, makeup mavens! I really admire the many looks posted to this group and not just the skill of application, but also the skill of taking the detailed close-up pictures of your closed eye. How do you do it? What cameras/settings/effects do you use?

Good eye photos

I took this for a Benefit promo when I worked at Sephora. TBH I have a great camera, lens and lighting setup. This one I took using natural light. If you are trying to use your phone I suggest finding north facing light. It's the best natural lighting scenario. I can only imagine all the nice IG photos are done with a decent camera, lights and a good photo editing program. I always look at the reflections in the eye to check for light source. If you look at mine you can see I'm in front of a few big windows 🙂 Hope this helped

RE: Good eye photos

iPhone for sure! I use the back camera. I get in front of the bathroom mirror and use that as a “view finder” and close up. I feel like you get better images on the back camera. The front camera I use when the lighting is perfect.

Re: RE: Good eye photos

Yes, the back camera on my phone (Motorola) is also way better than the front. Using a mirror as a viewfinder is a nice hack, thanks!

RE: Good eye photos

I use my phone camera and just zoom in on my eye and angle my face to get the whole eye look in there and I take a few with and without flash to catch the glitter and shimmers and blending much better you know? I hope that helps ☺️🥰
