Items out of stock still showing online

I'm just trying to figure out why on earth, when I shop the sale section online or on the app, more than half the items are out of stock!? Why are these items not removed when they're out of stock so I don't waste my time clicking on them?  I got a response from a chat rep that it's due to some items being restocked within 2-3 weeks! I still shouldn't have to click on something that isn't available! Many items right now are holiday only items that won't come back in stock. But they've been there for weeks to click on, but not available! Anyone else irritated by this? There should be a filter we can select that only shows available items.

Nope. The reason you get mushmouthed responses to this is because they KNOW it sucks for the customer, but they care more that these products bring traffic to their website, and once on their website, they seem to have 'full shelves' on their sale items. Imagine if 2/3 of their sale items were gone and you filtered for, say a concealer in their sale stuff, and got one. This is a clear conflict between what's good for you, and what's good for sephora. In the past, I believe 'what's good for the customer' in a UX context would have won out. Now, not so much.

I just as much, hate the excuses. Takes time to remove, will be restocking in 2-3 weeks. Please , I've seen items I've wanted stay in the sale section for months, and months, and months. Items that never came back. That is just pur oversight and laziness. That's part of why I don't shop at sephora as much. I went from Rouge to barely VIB. Shopping experience is just too frustrating sometimes. Including offering products....I click on it....then says item not carried. Uh, then why offer it! Stick to not offering the items, or putting out of stock. Offering an item you don't carry is called false advertising! And you can be sued for it.....how does such a big company not know that.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us regarding the out of stock items in our sale section and website. Sometimes, it takes some time for the product pages to be removed from our website. I understand this may be frustrating and I will share this with the appropriate teams.

I agree that the out-of-stock situation on the app is out of control.  Sephora should be better about showing what product is in-stock, it could be as simple as the clean badge they've done.  But personal I've found the experience too be so clumsy and time consuming, just to save a few bucks on make-up.  Now I shop the companies websites, most will price match and the businesses have a lot more skin in the game, so they have better customer service and are running better deals.
