I can only use 2 gift cards on line??? what's that about

So my husband had to buy me several $25 gift cards b/c that was all they had available at the time.  So I get my on line order ready and want to apply $100 to it, or 4 - $25 gift cards.  After I entered the first two there was no option to add any more.  I was told that was Sephora's policy, that you can only apply two gift cards to an on line order. I didn't ask if that applies at the stores as well.  That's so weird.  Do they think if someone is illegally getting gift cards they would choose the $25 ones?  Also, "it's Sephora's policy" is not an answer.  Why is it Sephora's policy?  If they could explain it, I would probably be satisfied.  Who makes up those policies?  I suggested that she escalate it to someone who can do something about it.  She said she would but I won't hold my breath.

However, if you would like to apply more than two gift cards, please contact us via phone at 1-877-737-4672 prior to submitting your order so we can make sure all four of your gift cards are applied. Well that's good to know.  The person I was messaging didn't offer that up. I did place my order and will probably spend the others in store.
