Helping Cancer Radiation Patients Feel Cared For – Seeking Support from the Beauty Community

Hi Sephora Community,

I’m a Yale undergraduate student currently volunteering in the Radiation Oncology department at the Yale Smilow Cancer Hospital. This summer, I’ve been deeply moved by the courage of patients undergoing radiation therapy—and I’ve also witnessed the harsh skin side effects they face, including rashes, irritation, and long-term dryness.

After speaking with oncology nurses and physicians, I’m starting a skincare support initiative to provide radiation-friendly skincare kits to patients during their treatment. These kits aim to soothe, protect, and restore skin that becomes especially vulnerable due to radiation exposure.

I’m reaching out to this incredible community because I know how powerful skincare can be—not just for healing skin, but for restoring dignity and comfort during some of life’s hardest moments. I’m currently seeking donations of fragrance-free, gentle, and restorative skincare products—moisturizers, balms, cleansers, and barrier creams that are safe for compromised skin.

If you are interested in supporting this cause—whether by donating products, sharing recommendations, or connecting me with companies that might want to help—I’d be so grateful. Every kit we assemble reminds a patient that they’re not alone, and that their comfort matters.
