False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

I am disappointed, sad, and angry over the blatant false advertising of the recent 750pt pillowcase. The description claims it is silk, but it most assuredly is not.

When exposed to flame, silk burns down to ash and smells like burning hair. Polyester is derived from plastic, and just melts. After receiving my pillowcase today and being 90% certain it wasn't silk when I touched it, I burned a corner, and sure enough, it melted, then cooled into a sharp plastic edge.

I'd like my points back. It is absolutely ridiculous for Sephora to think they can bilk folks out of their points with bald faced lies.

RE: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

I used 250 points to get the black headband in the Rewards Bazaar. It was advertised as being black velvet, but when I received it, it was 100% polyester. I was not expecting it to be polyester, which I have a sensitivity to. I got my 250 points back. I am disappointed that Sephora is using false advertising for their rewards and beauty offers.

Re: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

I too recently chose this pillowcase because it was advertised as silk and when I opened it, I realized it was satin instead. I also wouldn't have used my points for a satin pillowcase. Are they refunding people's points who were duped by this false advertising? Accruing 750 points isn't cheap and I'm very selective about what I use my points on. C'mon Sephora, admit your error and refund us our points. I'm a Rouge member and this is completely unacceptable.

Hi @TisaLeigh,

I will send you a PM for further assistance.

Re: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

How do I get my 750 points back as I bought the night night sleep pillowcase thinking it was silk.  I would not have redeemed my points on a polyester pillowcase.

Re: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

@Supo12 I'll send you a PM to help.

Re: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

Thank you! I am also super pissed off by this. I really want a Slip pillowcase, but omg it's so expensive, so I knew this wouldn't be the same but was hoping it would at least be SILK, AS ADVERTISED. Sephora, please return everyone's points who bought this. Thee op nails this. 750 points costs a lot of money.

Re: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

Hi @RGbrown and @makeupjunkie65,

I sincerely apologize for the delay in our response! Thank you so much for your patience and feedback regarding this reward. We were advised that this is made of 100% polyester silk and I apologize for any frustration caused. I will send you a private message shortly. Thank you!

Warm regards,

Laurie

RE: Re: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

@LaurieBT, Thank you for reaching out again and returning my points. I appreciate this and still hope Sephora will pull this as a Reward Bazaar option. I would not recommend to anyone.

RE: Re: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

@LaurieBT, As stated by the poster of this conversation I appreciate the private message but am curious as to why??? As in why the private message when you literally said the same thing in the private message you stated here in this post?? I believe that this is probably a Sephora tactic to make others who read this feel you reached out to us to correct this blatant deceit by Sephora but not so!I would NEVER have bothered to use 750 points (do the math lots of $$$ spent to acquire 750 points ) for such a cheap pillowcase!! And it is blatantly falsely advertised!! I don’t believe as thin as it is it work last long going in a washer or dryer and since it has no label on care instructions I don’t know! How about returning our points to us and making this correct??? Anyone who is considering this in the Bazaar be aware you can go to Target and buy this any day of the week for cheap!!!

I think you make a really good point. The quality of rewards gifts is low when I stop to consider how much money spent is required to earn the rewards.

Re: RE: Re: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

Hi Laurie,

I would like my points returned as well. I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with Sephora and the entire rewards system. It’s misleading and quite frankly, fraudulent.

I want my rewards points back! I got this long ago and was going to send to my sister who has sensitive skin so I had to double check and make sure it was silk. There was no tag telling what it was made of which made me super suspicious. This is ludicrous.
please give me my points back.

Hi @caitlinwerner,

I'll be happy to check on this and I'll send you a message.

Re: RE: Re: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

Hi. I have been thinking this for so long that there is NO way this is Silk, it wasn't until a friend pointed me to this post that I can now confirm it. This is such BS. It is not cheap to get to 750pts. I would like my points returned as well. Also, if you want to keep loyal customers then show some transparency as well.

Re: RE: Re: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

Hi,

Can someone assist me with this as well? I ordered two of these pillowcases and am only learning now that they’re not made of silk. I’ve been wondering why they’re holding up much better than the silk pillowcases I’ve had before. I would like my points returned as well. Thank you!

Re: False advertising in the Rewards Bazaar

@LaurieBT

Thanks for your pm; I appreciate your assistance!

I just want to quibble for a sec though. There is no such thing as "100% polyester silk". Fabric can be made of polyester, or it can be made of silk, or it can be a blend of the two, but it can't be 100% of both. They are two entirely different fibers, and the content of each one MUST be disclosed per FTC labeling rules. 90%/10% or 50%/50% etc.

But having one here, I suspect it's really "100% polyester satin" which is...100% polyester. Satin is just a term for how the material itself is woven/constructed, and can be made of silk, polyester, or other fibers.

Sephora violated all sorts of legal requirements with this reward as best I can tell. Labeling requirements (fabric content, country of origin, and manufacturer ID) were completely ignored, on top of the false advertisement of the fabric content on the site. I'm surprised that where ever y'all ordered these from let the tagging requirement slip through the cracks...it's federally mandated.

https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/threading-your-way-through-labeling-require.... Here's a fun read all about it...I actually found it fairly well laid out for a government site 😋
