night care routines

i have 3B/3C curls and i still can't figure out what works best for my hair. i sleep with a satin pillow case and pineappling just doesnt work for my hair. what are some other ideas to try? (i usually go to bed with my hair wet during the school year)

Re: night care routines

I don't know that i necessarily have a "good" hair routine for night time, but it exists and I've been seeing growth lately so I'll take it as a good sign. I usually put my hair in a braid at night and then twist it into a bun. Then I tie a headscarf around my head. I use whatever pillowcase to be honest. And the headscarf is sort of silky, its actually just a big square scarf from Charlotte Russe (I have a v. big head). Wet or dry, the braiding works, even if it doesn't look the most beautiful all the time. For when I feel very sleepy, I put my hair in a bun or a top knot and I cover that up with the scarf.

RE: night care routines

I double a satin ponytail holder over my hair....basically make a loose bun instead of a pineapple. The pineapple straightens my curls so I don't ever do that.

RE: night care routines

I often wash my hair right before bed. I scrunch most of the water out with a microfiber towel or a cotton tee shirt, part my hair, and apply my products. I do a last scrunch with my towel and try to sleep on my stomach so I'm not crushing my curls in my sleep. I wash my hair every other day or every two days so for nights I don't wash my hair I use a silk cap or bonnet. I take it off as soon as I get out of bed and shake my curls out. By the time I leave my house volume and curls are back to normal.

Re: night care routines

I use a snappee, it's a hair tie that snaps together so you can easily pineapple. NEVER go to bed with wet hair. If you insist on wetting your hair before bed, get an old tshirt and wrap it around your hair 30-60 mins before bed. By the time you go to bed, it should be dry. Twist it up in 2 strand twists so you don't disrupt the curls and wrap a satin scarf around your hair.

RE: night care routines

I also was my hair during the evening and go to bed with my hair a bit damp. I find if I French braid my hair before I go to bed allows me to wake up with well defined waves that have a bit more curl to them because of my hair texture.

Re: night care routines

I agree.. I use the same method and in the morning spray my hair with a little bit of water and conditioner to wake up my curls and I go through the week before having to wash my hair..

Re: night care routines

I try to make sure my hair is dry before bed so my curls are already set(won't flatten during sleep) and sleep with it loose on a silk wrap. My curls usually for about a week that way, and I have the same texture as you.
