Looking for a good primer to use a foundation that doesn't oxidize

Hi everyone,

I have combination skin (on the oilier side in the summer and drier side in the winter)

I have yellow/neutral undertones.

I am looking for a foundation that doesn't oxidize, I thought of trying Armani Beauty's Luminous Silk Foundation (does it oxidize?)

Also if someone can suggest a really good primer for combination skin that helps keep foundation from oxidizing that would be great (I have tried Tatcha silk canvas, a bunch of smashbox primers and cover fx primers and they weren't good, I tried Boscia and I like their primer but you can't buy it from Sephora anymore).

Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

@Hana411 @I donโ€™t think a primer can prevent foundation from oxidizing. I can say that Luminous Silk does oxidize. Also I love using Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Face Primer Blur Primer Gold

Hi @Hana411!

I love Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer Value Size - 2 oz/ 59 mL .  It's oil free so it helps mattify my oily skin and prevents foundation from oxidizing.  I use it with Estรฉe Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place 24-Hour Longwear Foundation 2W1 Dawn  (not this color).  I forgot primer once and was surprised that the foundation didn't oxidize like crazy!  It really feels lightweight and natural even though it's full coverage.

Setting foundation with Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Longwear Setting Powder Translucent  helps too.

Thank you! I will give these a try

Can you also recommend a concealer please? I have been having so much trouble with that as well

@Hana411

Glad I could help!

What kind of concealer are you looking for?  Is it to hide blemishes (acne, dark spots) or to brighten under your eyes?  What kind of coverage?  What concealers have you tried?

You can try BECCA Cosmetics Under Eye Brightening Corrector Light to Medium and also Kat con D concealer to hide blemishes or Tarte shape tape

Re: Looking for a good primer to use a foundation that doesn't oxidize

So I am looking for both one that covers up blemishes and scars really well and one to brighten up my under-eye dark circles really well.

I have tried Clinique Beyond Perfecting Super Concealer Camouflage + 24-Hour Wear, Makeup Forever Camouflage Concealer, Too Faced Born this way. These ones were used to cover up blemishes, I have never gotten one for my under-eyes, I think I tried Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer once but it wasn't my shade (now I want one because lately my under-eye dark circles have been really bad).  Unfortunately, they have all oxidized except the Makeup forever one but I had to stop using it because it broke me out.

It's always hard finding one to match your foundation.  I have no idea why they can't make concealer to match the foundations from their own brand...

Although concealer always seems to oxidize, I've had luck with the PAT McGRATH LABS Sublime Perfection Concealer MD22  (not this color) and the Yves Saint Laurent Touche ร‰clat High Cover Radiant Under-Eye Concealer 9 EXPRESSO  (not this color).  They don't oxidize on me as much as others.

For brightening your face, choose a concealer 2 shades lighter than your foundation.  I found that the undertone of the concealer doesn't really matter as long as it's 2 shades lighter.  I use foundation with warm undertones, but use a concealer with cool undertones and it looks fine.

Thank you so much! I'm going to give these a shot! I really appreciate all your help ๐Ÿ™‚
