Spring Cheek Challenge
Style Awakening 💇🏽♀️✨⏰
Welcome to the Spring Cheek Challenge!!! I'm looking for that seasonal refresh. For the first SPRING Cheek challenge, (I know right.. How is this the first...I couldn't get past IYKYK, "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking."), I want you to look towards personal moments and icons (person, celebrity, objects) for inspiration. Look to the Gawds, dahhhhhlings. And zhuzh it up with an outfit, or hair accessory or anything you think that's relevant. I've declared this the "year of using my pretty things, " and I'm inviting you to join me!
The INSPO behind the INSPO:
This was fueled by caitbird's brilliant inspo board for Belle, pdxxxx's elite breakdown's of icons, the creative choices of Cissy63 during the Winter Wonderland cheek challenges... And again, Zendaya.
BUT, WHEN YOU NEED A PUSH/INSPO, AS ALWAYS.....I GOT YOUUUUUUU
Here are the weekly themes:
Blush Crush (Apr 8-13)
Meet me in Miami (Apr 14-Apr 20)

You crushed this!! 💖😉 @Mellmars1185
Oouh kay, you can skip the setting powders anytime. Your skin is beautiful with a natural glow. Wow!!
@CynthieLu Thank you so much! I never used to use setting powders and sprays (I just started using them daily within the past 5 years). My makeup would be slip sliding off my face! I am trying to use up the rest of my Dior stick before the warm weather. I will have to switch over to a matte Foundation for the warmer months.
Your cheeks look so glowy @Mellmars1185 - the shade you got is lovely!
@PDXXXX Thanks very much! I did this look for fun, so I didn't set the creams with powders (on my cheeks). I think my natural oils are coming through ☺️

DIOR Rosy Glow Blush 015 Cherry

No direct highlight, but the mix of Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Soft’Lit Naturally Luminous Hydrating Longwear Foundation and DIOR Forever Glow Star Filter Multi-Use Complexion Enhancing Booster is giving the lit from within effect
This wasn't specifically based on Yara Shahidi, but she's a gorgeous muse regardless
This style was recently called high blush, but I still term it draping, just because I use a C shape placement where it doesn't blend into my eyeshadow, usually more into my hairline as my face is oval and I find this more flattering. I do like blending it to my eye, but I wanted a smoky eye look today. Here, the blush is blended into Yara's eye look.
love the look @danielledanielle
@danielledanielle this is such a gorgeous look! I love that color and placement of blush on you!
You nailed it!! Stunning @danielledanielle
Wow, that style of blush and placement is soooo pretty on you, @danielledanielle ! 🤩
@Titian06Thank you, I'm forever crushing on draping
I think the way you've placed blush is very flattering on you too @danielledanielle. This look is crushed. 💪💖
And your muse, gosh I wish I could rock that level of blush so phenomenally. She's made for it. 😍
Right, @CynthieLu , she's next level! And TY @PDXXXX , you & @Mellmars1185
Also, didn't even think of blush crush as crushing it 😂, so many good interpretations!
@danielledanielle dying for the draping - I'm liking this color and placement on you 🙂
@danielledanielle Stunning blush look! I really like the placement of your blush. I have yet to tey the Dior Blush formula. That shade is stunning on you!
@danielledanielle Thank you for the tag! I could definitely use a little inspiration! I really have enjoyed your blush challenges. Now what to do for blush crush 🤔
@danielledanielle for blush crush, what are we thinking? Pops of color, favorite shades, favorite formulas at the moment, blush as eyeshadow and lipstick...
@makeitup305, @Mellmars1185 , initially I thought, colors of love like red and pink, think spring/fling.. BUT, I also felt a way about that, so you can do pops of color or even using a favorite blush you think is iconic. This can even be translated to a monochromatic look or a signature look, like supermodels in a heyday moment. Didn't even consider formulas, but yeah that applies. I appreciate interpretations of my interpretations because someone always blows my mind.
This week I'm going red with draping via 80s because I love that look.
ooo girl I really struggle with applying blush I need to see some of y'all's!! it never ends up looking great I need helpppp
@vallyyyyy, oohh let's chat. What is it that you want help with ? Placement? Blending? Patchy application?
We had a version of this with techniques that you can look at Cheek Challenge Summer 2024: Choose Your Own Adventure
I also posted some walkthroughs in my other thread, 🏫🎓BIC University 🎓🏫 , but other members can also give (and have) some great pointers. So, please come for the inspo, but feel free to post questions, too. We are all here to help and encourage.
probably all three lol
I don't know when in the process of putting makeup on you're supposed to put it like before foundation after foundation? i've tried both and it always just looks so patchy no matter what I do. am I using the right blush? should I be using cream or powder? so many questions!!
So, not to overwhelm you, but you can do both with blush, like apply before or after makeup. Your skin type, product choice and makeup preference (glam, natural, soft Glam, bold, etc) inform that @vallyyyyy
Skin prep is also important, like if your base isn't correct, your blush will be affected in regards to patchiness and /or fading as examples
I'll use a popular blush and example. Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Liquid Blush can be used that way. I didn't like it at first, because I prefer blush on top of makeup, so using it on my combo skin without a base equals patchy or excessive. To get around this I can underpaint... Which is also called reverse contouring... To do it before makeup. That's a separate technique and tips for it is actually on one of those older challenges.
If I want to use it after, I can do a few things:
