HELLLLLOOOO HELLO 👋🏽 my Cheeky Coquettes! It's the Awesome Autumn Advent of the cheek challenge. We're again, choosing our own adventure. I'm calling this one ..Fall Flushing Forward!
This is where I encourage you to lean into your blush blindness by using a product you thought you could never use or can't figure out. But, fear not we're still mixing it up mediums and technique wise, but with the seasonal spin.
"But danielledanielle I want inspo and not just options"
I got you, I goottttt youuuuu.
I have kept the suggestions and descriptions below, and added a few updates! BUT, I still encourage everyone to choose what they like, you don't even have to go in order. Want to be bronzy STILL? Be about the bronze 🥉 😎 and apply it in any and every method. Want to stick to your tried and true, check out vibrant...... Or, wanna take something that didn't wow you? Check out the prompt Tried and Through take 2.
I woke up (blonzed)** like this aka Blush and Bronzer (Sephora 22-28; Fall Equinox is 22nd)
BOYFRIEND BLUSH
Tomboy Blush (Sep 29-Oct 5th)
Glazed Cheeks AKA Blushlights (Oct 6-12th)
Vibrant or Tried and Through, Take 2- one and done (October 13-19th)
Fall Foliage Face AKA Sunset Blush for the season (Oct 20-26th)
Blontour**, the cooler the better (Oct 27-Nov 3rd)
**Side quest:
Hottie Toddies! November 4-10th
Methods:
"Diffuse the doozy" aka blend with color
Instead of a blush brush, use a tapered brush with a highlighter or a lighter color blush to blend out the stronger/pigmented one. If using liquid products, see Glazed Cheeks. The idea is to system harsh edges with a lighter blush.
Update - Diffuse the Doozy when color on color
Use two blushes with the lighter blush placed closer to your nose and the deeper towards your ear. Use your complexion tool (sponge or brush) WITH your leftover complexion product to marry/blend the lighter blush and bring it in further without too much color or harshness, IMO
It's a lighter diffused look than boyfriend blush, but it mimics that flushed look
Brush Army
Use multiple brushes in your application. Think powder, fans, tapered, stippling. Go beyond your favorite blush brush or use this as rationale to get new brushes, just sayin'
Bounce, bounce bounce
You guessed...it sponges. Do you go for the beloved #Beautyblender ORIGINAL Beautyblender Makeup Sponge Original #Beautyblender ORIGINAL Beautyblender Makeup Sponge Original #or something else? Bounce to it
All Hands on Deck
Fingers are nature's brushes, and nothing blends better than the warmth of your hand.
Side Quest:
Apply blush to the back of your hand, then press or "stamp" to your face and blend out with your fingers. I haven't tried it yet, but saw a comment on Reddit about this. I usually tap out blush with my two fingers (index and middle), but this seems interesting 🤔
Pressed, but never stressed
This is inspo @furbie when she asked what a powder puff was for. I think I said for powders, but I never considered using it for other powders (blush, highlighter) until then. This takes something baked like #Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Demi'Glow Light-Diffusing Highlighter #Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Demi'Glow Light-Diffusing Highlighter # to next level space shine 🌟🌌🌟
Double Dip with optional swirl
This is @sister13 's technique where she so kindly let me name it with this level of ridiculousness I like to do. This works really well with bold, complimentry colors (color theory y'all), the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter duos are great for this as well as the highlights. The optional "swirl" sister used can involve tapping both colors in a flipping the blush, or a general swipe while blending, which can make bold colors and little more uniform
She used SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Powder Brush #50 for the Killawatt, namely mimosa sunrise
@PDXXXX, I hear ya about ruddy, redness and mature skin, but you look great! Westman Atelier is a beautiful shade and pairing and placing it with Lit like you did here is marvelous - it's a fresh, healthy wash of flush and glow, and looks so well put together that Dior lip - I love their rosewood shades!!
For the most part, I address the redness on my cheeks and around my nose through skincare - centella asiatica (or cica, as @danielledanielle mentioned below) has worked very well for me. Honey or propolis also works well on my skin. LANEIGE Cica Sleeping Mask for Moisture Barrier Support, VT Cosmetics Cica Daily Soothing Sheet Masks, and CosRx Full Fit Propolois Toner are products I've used for a few years and have enoyed the results. For makeup prep, if I'm feeling like my redness is more prominent, I'll use Dr. Jart+ Mini Cicapair Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30 15 mL/ .50 fl oz as a primer - it conceals my redness. Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Sensitive Skin Serum for Redness and Barrier Repair 1.01 oz / 30 ml
is also effective, if you're looking for something with a thinner, serum-like consistency.
@itsfi thank you for your response and tips - they're gold! I mostly use Aveno Antirougeurs and their Tolerance for moistuizer but the Antirougeurs is being phased out so this is perfect! I have the LANEIGE Cica Sleeping Mask for Moisture Barrier Support but haven't been consistent with it so I'll try that. I've been so curious about the #Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Sensitive Skin Serum for Redness and Barrier Repair 1.01 oz / 30 ml as well so it's so nice to see you give it the thumbs up! Also, to hear about ingredients beyond cica like honey and propolis is so helpful!
@PDXXXX @itsfi has some fantastic suggestions and I just want to back up the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair™ Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30 1.7 fl. oz/ 50 mL my face is really red and this does such a good job covering it up!
I'm glad I could help @PDXXXX! I've found that the Dr. Jart Cicapair line to be good for redness. If you have Sephora near you, it'd be great if you could pick up a sample of the serum. I've also seen deluxe samples of both the serum and the color correcting treatment show up from time to time in the Rewards Bazaar, as one of the items you can redeem for 100 points. Those are sizeable samples so that may be a good way to test out the products.
I think it came out lovely @PDXXXX , I don't battle redness often, usually my dry areas get tight or flaky, but for acne redness, cica works well.
My skin is 40+ and I battle redness @PDXXXX I was ok with this trying trend thou I think I still prefer bold and colorful eyeshadow looks. 😜
I think this look is really cute on you! My redness is just my nose, chin and cheeks, where do you get yours?
Yes! These challenges are really helpful to get us trying new things, and we get to have some fun along the way to. 💜
My usual pattern of redness is similar to yours - right now I'm just more of an inflamed, dry, fading tan/red mess all over as the seasons change!
I'm loving how the PATRICK TA Major Headlines Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush Duo looks on you in that shade. It makes me definitely want to revisit this trend with a sheerer base as well as a more sheer, cooler pink toned blush. I would've never guessed you were post 40's - you nailed the fresh face on this! Going with a higher coverage foundation on this was a major fail/lesson for me.
Makes me tempted to try more of the brand (I've only used the PATRICK TA Major Brow Defining Pencil and just gotten the PATRICK TA Major Dimension III Matte Eyeshadow Palette but have yet to play with it). Any other products from the line you like?
I've been very lucky and been in a really great place with my skin lately. I was overusing actives and not respecting my skin's own unique needs for the longest time, after switching things up and calming down my active use my redness is still there but nothing like it was a few years back. @PDXXXX
I have two of those blush compacts. I love a cream blush so this duo is very appealing to me. They are fun little combo! (I also have She's The Moment.)
Right now I'm really interested in Danessa Myrics holiday blush kit. 😉 Ahhh I have that palette! PATRICK TA Major Dimension III Matte Eyeshadow Palette it's so good! You need to start playing with it. 😀
Here we go, I'm trying out this weeks theme using just my
PATRICK TA Major Headlines Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush Duo She's Blushing as suggested.
This is Tom Boy Blush 🤠
Hair up or down, I just didn't know how I wanted to wear it today 😅 but looking at the photos it feels unblended towards the outside but IRL I don't see it. 🤨 Lol, it's a mystery.
Ok I can't say up or down because they both are fabulous!!! @CynthieLu love it
@CynthieLu I don't think that it turned out looking "unblended"; it's maybe just different than how you're used to seeing your blush but that isn't necessarily a bad thing 🙂
I feel like phone cameras do us dirty at times 😅 @CynthieLu , but it looks like a natural flush, I love PATRICK TA Major Headlines Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush Duo She's Blushing for this
I tried to follow your suggestions for this (Thank you for those btw!) @danielledanielle I felt really good about this!
So I misunderstood the sunset blush look 🤪 and used pinks.
- DIOR Forever Glow Maximizer Longwear Liquid Highlighter 017 Nude
- DIOR Rosy Glow Blush 001 Pink
- Benefit Cosmetics Dandelion Baby-Pink Brightening Blush Mini
I applied the Dior maximizer in the hollows of my cheeks, blending out.
Then applied the Dior blush on my cheekbones, blending the overlapping area well.
Finally, I applied the Benefit blush above my cheekbones, blending the overlapping area.
I also dusted a bit of highlighter over top for a little glow ( GUERLAIN Terracotta Luminizer Highlighter Powder 00 IVORY ; not include in the pic).
All products are for the Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022
@Titian06 ooh, these are some great products, I bet this created a beautiful look! And sunsets can be pink-tinted sometimes, so I think it counts!
I bet it's beautiful!! @Titian06
You're too kind, @lmaster ! 🫣
I like this though! I imagine it had a nice ombre effect to it @Titian06
Thanks, @danielledanielle ! It did. Now I need to see what other colors I can do this with.
@Titian06 I can imagine this created a beautiful effect/look 💗💖🩷
