In your opinion what is the best brow pencils/pomade?

I’ve tried a lot of them and personally I like Anastasia’s brow products the best. I was using Anastasia’s brow definer which I do like but about two years ago I switched to their dip brow pomade which I feel works better because I get to brush it on( I use their #14 angled brow brush)and in my opinion that seems to look more natural.. I was curious to see if maybe someone has a suggestion on an even better brow liner/pomade that gives the same natural look but possibly with less work lol.. when I’m finished I brush over my brows with RCMA’s translucent powder or Laura Mercier translucent powder then spritz all nighter over whole face which seems to do the trick in making them stay put even in the hot summer months.

My favorites are:

Skinny Mechanical Pencil:

Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Pencil Waterproof Eyebrow Definer Shade 3.5

Slanted Tip Pencil

TOM FORD Waterproof Brow Sculptor Eyebrow Pencil with Refill Taupe

Brow Gel

YSL Couture Brow

Gel Pomade

LANCôME - SOURCILS GEL Waterproof Eyebrow Gel-Cream

I have yet to try the marker-style brow pen but I really want to. That’s next on my list. I think/fear the YSL brow gel may be about to be discontinued. It’s no longer on the Sephora site and is sold out at a lot of retailers. I bought one of each color last month (it only comes in two shades, so I didn’t go bananas) when I noticed stock was dwindling but I’ll be sad if it goes away for good. It’s my absolute fave.

I also use benefit products mainly but when it comes to pencils I love the Marc jacobs brow pencil and the color pop brow pencil. I’ve never tried the precisely my brow pencil from benefit but I hear great things about it. But I also like using their brows powder which kinda gives the same affect as a pomade would just less work and you don’t have to worry about adding too much product and I love using gimme brow combed back and forth through your brows to give you a soft brow but it still fills it in.

Normally I use Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil. But now I’m testing 2 other brow pencils against it: Lancôme Brow Define Pencil and NARS Brow Perfector.

Benefit PMBP works very well for me, lasts all day—even survives my sweaty HIIT workouts and sprints/runs, as long as I don’t wipe my brows—and needs no powder or gel setting. I can do my brows in 2 minutes with this pencil. My only complaint: sometimes the pencil formula crumbles/flakes a bit during application. The tip doesn’t completely snap off, but little crumblies sometimes get left behind on my brows. The spoolie removes those, of course, but sometimes I have to spend extra time blending those tiny clumps out.

The NARS pencil formula is harder than Benefit’s. Because of that, I can get a more wispy line with NARS—but it costs me more time to fill in my brows, and I have to apply a bit more pressure than I’m used to. It doesn’t crumble or flake, I don’t have to set it, and it lasts all day. I haven’t put it through my workout test yet.

The Lancôme pencil formula is softer than Benefit’s. It feels more like a soft eyeliner that has a very fine tip. So far I’ve worn it on my brows only once, and I powder set it because I wasn’t convinced it’d stay put on its own (because it’s so soft). I’ll try it again without powder soon. I can get fine lines with it, but not as easily as I can with the Benefit and NARS pencils. I have to use a very light hand with this one.

I’ve tried ABH Brow Wiz and wasn’t wowed, plus the spoolie broke on me. Also tried NYX Micro Brow pencil but hated the formula: it’s very hard and almost waxy, and took too much effort to get any color payoff. I have Glossier Boy Brow but don’t use it often because I’m used to pencils instead of gels. I also have Benefit Ka-Brow but it’s way too easy to go heavy handed with that stuff, plus it applies very clumpy and dries out in its container, so I don’t use it anymore.

@WinglessOne

Do both the Nars and Lancome have spoolies on the other end?

Re: In your opinion what is the best brow pencils/pomade?

@GG84 Yep, they both have spoolies. The NARS spoolie is skinnier than the other 2 pencils’ spoolies. Hopefully it won’t break off.

I really do like IT Cosmetics' brow liner - Brow Power Universal Eyebrow pencil. It is very easy to use, blends really well, and has true staying power. It also works well with every skintone and hair color!

Honestly, I have a hard time spending $$ on brow products. I tried ABH Brow Wiz, and while it was fine, the spoolie broke off within a few weeks (based on reviews, that seems to be common). Since then I've tried the NYX Micro Brow and L'Oreal Brow Stylist Definer with comparable results. If I want to set them without any crunch, I use the Essence Make Me Brow fiber mascara, which has the added benefit of making them look a little fuller and fluffier. One of my friends swears by the MAC Shape + Shade, which creates very realistic hair-like strokes, but I haven't tried it myself.

I love Anastasia Brow Wiz the best but I feel people also like Kat Von D's new brow line.  Before Anastasia had the Brow Wiz I was using MAC brow pencil in Lingering.
