Thought I'd start a thread just for Viseart since so many of us LOVE them.

I love to encourage a small brand as opposed to a brand where you pay for the name. The eye shadow quality can't be beat!

Saw this on Facebook a while back and thought I'd add it here.

A 12 color Viseart Eyeshadow Palette is $80 USD (before pro discount). Each eyeshadow pan is 2 grams and valued at approx. $6 ($3.00 per gram).

MAC has reduced the price of their single eyeshadows refills from $10 USD to $6 USD each. So 12 colors at the new reduced price would be $72 USD (before pro discount). Add the $8 USD empty palette to store them and we're back to $80 USD.

EXCEPT: Each MAC eyeshadow pan is only 1.3 grams ($4.62 per gram). You're getting only 15.6 grams of product, as opposed to the 24 grams of eyeshadow in the Viseart palette. That's a loss of over 8 grams of product.

FINAL ANALYSIS:
It would cost $119 USD for MAC to duplicate the Viseart palette (24 grams of MAC eyeshadow at $4.62 per gram and $8 for the palette).

I forgot to post this a few days ago: I did indeed order the Avignon palette because I have no willpower. Eh, I don’t have any of the Grand Pros, so I figured there wouldn’t be many true dupes for me. 

Left side is Avignon. Right side are a few shades that are either dupes or near-dupes. The only true dupe seems to be the Coy shimmer, and the Avignon version performs a bit better. The Editorial Brights blue is very close to the Avignon version but seems a hair deeper and more vibrant. All swatches were done with a dry shader brush.

There's a new Viseart 12-pan palette on the brand's website: the Avignon palette, which is available as a limited release this weekend only.

Apparently, it's a "curated" palette from New York Fashion Week, that is to say, it's a remix of previously available shades.

Probably a good thing I missed this one. There are a few shades that speak to me but overall I think the palette is somewhat limited in the variety of the looks you can do with it so while certain aspects appeal to me, it isn’t very useful in terms of my collection. Missing this palette is great for my wallet. However, if I had seen this earlier and for some odd reason was feeling very unrestrained and carefree, I probably would have bought it

@KNC24  - I saw it but it didn't speak to me.  So I passed.  I just picked up the Paris Edit and am waiting to see what the rest of the year brings...more cool tones I hope.

@ibblej  I’m trying to talk myself out of buying this one... wish they’d list the shade names (or at least shade finishes, or at very least the existing palettes these were curated from) so I could better tell if I already have all or most of those shadows. Gonna have to see if they clarified any of that on Instagram, assuming folks have asked about it.

@WinglessOne I tried to compare their photos of their other palettes to this one, and I have a few guesses for the more distinctive shades: The bright seafoam on the right is probably Coy #2, the blue-brown looking one on the top left is probably the similar looking celestial duochrome from the Grande Pro 2, and the two matte blues on the left are almost certainly from the Editorial Brights or the Grande Pro 3, since they're too bright to be from either of the the Cool Mattes palettes. (My guess is that the the cyan is from the Editorial Brights, and the true blue is from the Grande Pro 3.)

The lighter metallic blue on the bottom might be the similar looking luxe metallic shade from the Grande Pro 2, and the orange-ish neutral matte on the middle left might be the similar shade from the Neutral Mattes.

@ibblej  🙂 I also thought some of the shades might be from Coy and Editorial Brights (I do have those). Had I not found IG answers, I was ready to email Viseart to ask for a full list of shade names and curation info. I get that they hadn’t originally intended to sell this palette at all but still, they should provide curation details on their product page. 

And I kept telling myself “but c’mon, some of those blues still look close to the ones in Editorial Brights and Dark Mattes... and sure, your EB & DM are in the old non-magnetic palette format and it’d be nice to be able to easily pop the pans out for travel purposes, but you don’t NEED this palette”—as I clicked the buy button. 🤦‍♀️🤪 At least my remaining Rakuten cash back funds covered most of this purchase!

...and I found my answer in IG comments. I don’t have any of the Grand Pro palettes or Neutral Mattes 2, so now I’m having an even harder time resisting this palette. 😩
