Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

If you are a fan obsessed or just a beauty lover curious about Diptyque, come on over! I thought this would be a fun place to share your thoughts, collections, decorating ideas, questions about the fabulous world of Diptyque.

I started out with one candle, the Beverly Hills candle-which is so fabulous-I'll post a picture of it tomorrow-thinking I was crazy to buy a $70 candle. Yes, it's crazy-crazy good! I've since collected 2 or 3 more and purchased a perfume. This week I got my first body care item, the satin body oil. I really love everything from Diptyque.

So let's discuss 🙂 One question I have is how do you get the inside cleaned out so you can use the jars for pretty collections like I see a lot of on social media?

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

Is Hautelook pretty reputable? I have never ordered from them before.

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

It depends on what you buy, but at least for clothing and accessories, most of those items can be returned at Nordstrom Rack. Beauty products are often final sale, unfortunately.

I've seen items at Nordstrom Rack's website pop up on Hautelook often, and my Hautelook packages usually arrive in Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack boxes.

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

I have received questionable products and down right terrible customer service from hautelook. I would never shop with them again. IMO they are nothing like Nordstrom, whom I love and shop with all the time.

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

They may be "reputable" and owned by nordstrom but are very much grey market in general (ie not necessarily fake but not an authorized reseller, I don't know whether they are an authorized distributor for diptyque specifically or not)

just like at costco when you find greatly discounted "prestige" brands- they could be seconds, old stock or old season, returns, and there is no warranty or any way to know if they have been stored correctly etc. I remember reading years ago that hautelook was sued by tiffany or cartier for being a grey market retailer but not sure if that was before they were bought by nordstrom.

I personally wouldnt risk it but the discount is obviously enough to have many people turn a blind eye. For me, part of the allure of high end products is the purchasing process and packaging etc. and I like to know I am getting what I pay for.

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

It turned out to be a moot point because everything I wanted was sold out anyway :). Thank you for the input, though. I appreciate hearing everyone's opinions and experiences.

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

The items are not returnable. My Diptyque candles came melted, without plastic wrap, short wicks, with diminished scent strength....overall not good quality. Seemed like returns, seconds, or maybe display. I was happy to get discontinued holiday items, but won't be ordering again. I would rather pay full price for the quality that is to be expected from this brand.

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

Very reputable.  I ordered a travel body collection last time and the body scrub was dried out.  Such a bummer!  The candle and soap I ordered were great.

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

Yes! Sometimes, they take a few weeks to ship, but Hautelook is great. And you can get Nordstrom points with Hautelook purchases.

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

It is! Nordstrom actually acquired Hautelook a few years ago! 🙂

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

Ooh great, thanks guys!

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

Oh oh, glad I checked here before placing an order with Saks!

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

I'm excited as well!  But I do hope that they will be offering different things -- not the old holiday candles from previous years that were available during the Hautelook sale earlier this year.

yay!!!!!

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

Me again lol  few more questions 🙂

  • I thought I had seen a cedre candle... been discontinued?
  • How's the vanille candle?
  • Do they come out with a set or something for feu de bois for christmas?
  • Best place to buy for Canadians... discounts/gwp/etc?

Thanks 🙂

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

I think Cèdre was discontinued... last year?

Vanille is nic,e not too sweet. More of a smoky vanilla - warmed up with spices.

I don't think they typically do sets with just one set. dioradict posted a picture of some of the holiday sets here:

http://community.sephora.com/t5/Hauls/The-Canadian-Peeps-Deals-News-Events-amp-Whatever/m-p/2578796#...

Holt Renfrew, Saks, and Nordies carry Diptyque. I find HR GWP tend to have higher buy ins or be smaller than Nordies. I like Nordstrom 🙂

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

@veronika23 - Nordies has better GWP's and I used to order from Calgary before - they have no stock issues with gwp etc too. But now I order from Vancouver counter and they sell out too fast at times and long waits for restock.

The sets on the Canadian peeps thread are from Saks. The 12 piece set is good value and Nordies will have a 5 piece set for about 130CAD (not sure of pricing yet).

Saks has monthly Gift card events here and my guess is next would be Black Friday in November (probably $50 GC on $250 my guess.  Saks has gwp but not nicer than Nordies but the SA me and anewxa orders from has been pretty good and great with samples too. He can probably hold the sets for GC event as these sets are expected in stores around 1st week of November.

If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

I will post the names of candles in 10pc n 5 pc set as soon as i can recollect the details I saw. They have couple of boutique exclusive candles in these sets.

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

Thanks @dioradict! I've been dealing with Autumn since I asked her about feu de bois... I just keep going back to her. Easier for me since I'm not in Vancouver.

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

Thanks @lachaton ok so not like vanilla frosting/cake.

I knew I had seen something for the holidays but couldn't remember which thread. Thanks!

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

So I finally got a Feu de Bois candle. OMG This is exactly what I was looking for! Why do they only make candles? Have you ever seen a room diffuser, perfume or anything else but a candle. Thanks!

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

@veronika23 There's a Feu de Bois room spray I had seen on the counter. Also try diptyque Volutes probably it's similar to the candle 🙂

Re: Discussion for the Diptyque Crowd (please join!)

Thanks @dioradict. I will look into scent.  I really wish they had a diffuser.
