Moroccan Color Depositing Hair Mask Safe for Keratin Treated Hair?

Hello,

I am very interested in buying the Rose Gold Mask by Moroccan Oil.  I just saw it at my local Sephora.  But I am concerned about it taking the keratin treatment I have out of my hair early, like my hair coloring at the salon often does.  Can anyone tell me if this is an issue.  I know salon coloring "opens the cuticles" to deposit color and that is how it removes keratin.  But I see a lot of ingredients in this MoroccanOil mask and I wonder if it will be an issue too?

Your understanding about Keratin treatments is a bit misguided. Keratin wears off the hair in 6 - 12 weeks. Sodium Chloride is the biggest factor that affects Keratin - it is basically salt. Which is why you should have been advised to keep your hair out of salt water. Colouring your hair should have no effect on your Keratin unless your salon in using a brand with an exceptionally high amount of ammonia. You must steer clear of shampoos and conditioners with sodium chloride. Whether this product contains it or not, you would need to look at the ingredients.

Thanks for all the advice but I have been doing keratin (Global Keratin, GK) for 5+ years now so I know very well what to do with my keratin treatment, what to avoid, etc.

I just was hoping to have someone who knows for sure (or is working for MoroccanOil) answer the specific question I have about the over 40 ingredients in this coloring product if it would interfere.

Hi! What was the outcome? Did you use the hair color mask with your keratin?

There are 3 different types of salts in the random colours ingredients I looked at (platinum), I wouldn’t use it personally. I’m very familiar with GK, in fact I know the owner of the company that produces it.
