In desperate need of hair help with frizz? Humidity? Breakage? I canโ€™t tell :(

Iโ€™ll include a picture here. I use heat on my hair maybe twice a week. Any time I blow dry, it looks smooth for 5 minutes and then turns into this. I have naturally straight, fine hair. I condition my whole head, use serums and oils (either Moroccan oil or something similar) to try to smooth it after towel drying and then even when dry to smooth it down, I use low heat low power with my blow dryer. I donโ€™t know if I need a new brush and blow dryer or different products- or everything all together. Iโ€™m not a fan of straightening my hair. If anyone knows, please help ๐Ÿ˜ž

I feel you, my hair is also straight and super fine; The thing that has helped me with dryness, frizz and breakage themost is this mask I apply once a week (and it's super cheap!). I mix one egg with a teaspoon of honey and 1-2 tablespoons of Extra virgin olive oil (or coconut oil) Mix well and apply concentrating at the ends then working your way up and massage the roots. Leave on for at least 15minutes (I leave it on for up to 45 minutes) then wash hair normally and air dry. Hope this helps!

Hi! I totally can relate, I have had the same issues!! It's so frustrating. I found an amazing combo that works for me. After I get out of the shower, I apply L'Oreal Elvive Total Repair Protein Recharge to my hair, along with HGK Mistress Balm (agree that this stuff is AMAZING) and also, Verb Ghost Oil. I dry my hair with the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. (This dryer was ABSOLUTELY worth the money for me)  Once I've dried, and flat ironed my wavy parts, I put a small amount of Living Proof 5-in-1 styling treatment throughout that I've also mixed a tiny amount of Ghost Oil in. I then put another tiny amount of Ghost Oil on the ends of my hair.

I have found this combo has really helped...I cannot say enough good things about the 4 products I listed above and consider them all my HG.  Good luck to you!!

I forgot that I also use Living Proof Restore Instant Protection for Heat - before I blow dry and also before I use my flat Iron.

An easy way to tell if your hair is damaged is to take a strand of it, wet it with water and gently stretch it. If it returns to itโ€™s original length without breaking, your hair is healthy and is probably reacting to the humidity in the air.

If it stretches out and breaks, you most likely need protein.

If it doesn't stretch much, you need moisture:). Hope this helps:)

@heartsmyface What protein products do you rec?  I haven't used any since the 90s when I over-did it - probably with a poorly formulated product!

Re: In desperate need of hair help with frizz? Humidity? Breakage? I canโ€™t tell :(

I've found that if I try and use products with too much protein it creates frizz in my fine, straight hair. I also feel like this happens when I attempt to use any sort of oil or serum on dry hair. I HATE frizz, and recently had a nonstop frizz halo because I tried a sample of a volumizing shampoo. I got rid of it by using Briogeo's Don't Despair, Repair! hair mask. I also use IGK Hot Girls Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner, then finish with IGK Mistress hair balm. This for me has been the holy grail combo of anti frizz. I almost exclusively air dry, as I have found that blow drying makes my hair instantly too frizzy, and a straight iron makes my hair frizzier in the long run. See if you can't try to cut out the heat for a bit, maybe that will get your frizz to flee.

I would suggest using the Moroccan-oil brand, I use the moisture repair shampoo and the smoothing conditioner but donโ€™t put the conditioner on your roots. After showering I do a pump of the moroccan oil treatment and a pump of the smoothing lotion. I mix them together and work it in, again donโ€™t work into roots because itโ€™s super intense. Then combthrough (I switch off between blow drying and air drying but the routineworks for both). I do have shorter hair so all I need is a pump of each. Itโ€™s amazing my hair is so soft and smells amazing and feels so light weight, it is expensive but itโ€™s the only hair products Iโ€™ve tried that are worth the price. Be sure not to wash you hair everyday because thatwill strip itโ€™s natural oils, causing you to produce more and drying outthe ends. I honestly think the have the best products!! They have a heat protectant spray thatโ€™s amazing itโ€™s called perfect defense, I would recommend a lot of their other products too Hope that helps! I do live in Florida and I have natural curly hair so I get that irritation.

RE: In desperate need of hair help with frizz? Humidity? Breakage? I canโ€™t tell :(

I bet itโ€™s breakage and humidity. They kind of feed into each other. Right now Sephora has two Sephora favorites sets that have lots of goodoptions for frizzy hair: prep and protect and summer hair saviors. Maybe one of those has something new you could try? (I got both and I love them.) There are lots of things I have done to make my hair less frizzy but nothing so far gets rid of it the first day after washing. I just tried a Briogeo hair mask and I think that was really helpful. I only wash my hair twice or three times a week, because there really isnโ€™t any frizz on the second and third days. After washing my hair I wring it out, let it air dry for a bit, blow dry and thenstraighten because I do find straightening, for me, is what really keeps the frizz away (I read this in a few womenโ€™s magazines, something about sealingthe cuticle or something?). I spray an anti-frizz oil mist into my brushbefore brushing it, before and after I blow dry. Iโ€™ve heard boar bristle brushes work best for this so I just bought one of those fell amazon. I section my hair and very lightly spray some anti-frizz shampoo. Iโ€™ve been going through some of the other products in those sets and lots of them are really great for my hair. Keep us updated. I havenโ€™t conquered this issue either and Iโ€™d love to hear success stories.

Re: In desperate need of hair help with frizz? Humidity? Breakage? I canโ€™t tell :(

@iLikebeauty Towel-drying can lead to frizz b/c it removes too much water.  I rec gently squeezing water out of your hair.  If you do feel like you need to use a towel, I rec a micro-fiber one.  DevaCurl makes one that is popular.  best of luck!  ๐Ÿ™‚
