Hard water absolutely wrecking my hair

Help! I need a recommendation for a shampoo and conditioner that will help keep my hair healthy in the face of hard water. Basically the hard water here is drying out my hair while simultaneously causing build up. So I need something to make it feel it clean without over-drying the ends. I’m currently using the Briogeo Apple combo and it’s just too moisturizing - I feel greasy after using it sadly

None of these suggestions will work unless the original poster fixes their issues with water filtration as explained in my post. Yes, you can temporarily wash away from the surface the minerals only to Groundhog Day them back in the second her hair gets wet with her water again.

Try using the Triple Detox Shampoo from Living Proof. It’s designed to remove hard water buildup from hair and even comes with a test strip to test how much hard water is in your shower. I like to use it once a week.

Amazon has hard water treatments! The brand is Malibu and I use the individual treatments but you can also get the shampoo and conditioner!

I think you have a misunderstanding of how hard water works. Your current shampoo and conditioner are not too moisturizing leading your hair to feel greasy. You have hard water. It doesn’t matter what you use the end result will be the same. When you have a heavy mineral build up in your hair, your hair feels almost ā€œcrunchyā€ when you are brushing it out when it’s damp and never feels clean at the root. You can use all the hair treatments available and your hair will still feel rough. This is because you have a coating of minerals from hard water coating your hair.
There are ways to remove the minerals; you can visit a salon when they re-open and have a Malibu Crystal Gel treatment done (only really effective way) or you can at home use a clarifying shampoo with heat such as LIVING PROOF - Perfect Hair Day Triple Detox Shampoo. The problem is as soon as you rinse your hair, you are adding minerals right back in unless you address your filtration problem. You can pick up a Sprite showe head Filter at Home Depot or Sephora has a way over priced one here T3 Source Hand-Held Mineral Water Filter

This was a great explanation! Thank you so much. We rent so I’ll have to see what I’m allowed to do to the shower while here.
