Dry Shampoo and Hair Oil/Treatments

I'm looking for a dry shampoo as I only have time once a week to wash my hair. My hair was my natural brown colour and then I bleached it and coloured it with semi-permanent purple but my roots are still brown.

I've always had dry and frizzy hair but bleaching it has increased the dryness. Should I get a hair oil or treatment? What's my best option and which item is the best?

Re: Dry Shampoo and Hair Oil/Treatments

My all time favorite dry shampoo is hands down Living Proof Dry Shampoo. It will soak up a lot of oil and give you volume. Another good one to try is Amika Dry Shampoo. It works good but it does have a scent that some people might not like. One you can find in the grocery store is Not Your Mother's dry shampoo. It does come in unscented but the only disadvantage about this one is that it can make your roots white. Best thing to do with this product is spray some on your brush and then brush your hair. You'll still get volume without the white. If I had to pick one, LIVING PROOF, all day long.

Re: Dry Shampoo and Hair Oil/Treatments

I have yet to find a dry shampoo that I like, so I can't help you there. Verb Ghost Oil is the lightest oil I have found yet and does not make hair look greasy between washes.

Re: Dry Shampoo and Hair Oil/Treatments

@Mel231  have you tried the Batiste one??

They have new ones that are less drying, so what i do is i use the more powerfull one the first day i want to use a dry shampoo, and then 2 days later i use the less drying one.

What i need to do though is buy a good clarifying shampoo to strip the residue out of my hair, i still havent found a good one that doesnt dry out my hair too much or tangle them like crazy.

Re: Dry Shampoo and Hair Oil/Treatments

Thanks for the tip!  I will try that one.  As far as clarifying shampoos, I like the Kerastase scrub for oily hair (the blue one) and Kerastase After-Sun shampoo.

@VictoriaHerczeg I am really enjoyng Living Proof Perfect hair Day (PhD) Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo 5.5 oz / 184 mL . it has a fresh scent and it leaves my hair feeling cleaner.i sometimes use after blow drying to extend time between washes

Re: Dry Shampoo and Hair Oil/Treatments

@VictoriaHerczeg  I can’t speak to hair oil treatments, but I can recommend a couple of dry shampoos. I wash my hair once every 1-2 weeks and use dry shampoo between washes. For reference, I have salt & pepper coily hair that’s more grey than black these days. Any dry shampoo that leaves a white residue will definitely show up in my hair. I avoid those dry shampoos and use one of these instead:

  • Redken Invisible Dry Shampoo is my favorite. It leaves no visible or sticky residue, has no fragrance, and it’s very easy to massage onto my scalp and scrunch/finger-work through my coils (can also be brushed through, of course, but I never do that do my coils). It also doesn’t create any texture I don’t want in my hair. I especially love using this right before high impact workouts.

  • amika Perk Up Talc-Free Dry Shampoo 5.3 oz / 189 mL  is a fragranced option. I’d probably use it more often if the fragrance was toned down. It’s fairly easy to use on my coily hair and leaves no residue behind. Since my favorite dry shampoo doesn’t come in a mini size, I travel with a mini Perk Up instead.

Re: Dry Shampoo and Hair Oil/Treatments

@VictoriaHerczeg try Batiste dry shampoos, they have different kinds like for brunettes, also a few are less drying for the hair and scalp. Theyre sold in Walmart and pharnacies/drugstores.

I wash my hair 2 times a week, so what i do is on the second day i use the original Batiste dry shampoo, and 2 days later i refresh with one thats less drying (also from Batiste).

@SportyGirly125 i wish i could afford Oribe products, these prices are scary 🙁🙁🙁

Re: Dry Shampoo and Hair Oil/Treatments
