Best hair care products for damaged, broken and dry hair?

My hair hasnt always gotten the best care. its very damaged and I have broken strands all over the root area. its also really dried out easily after I wash it. only seems to look good a few days after my shower. I dyed it in the past too which didnt seem to help my hair health.

Re: Best hair care products for damaged, broken and dry hair?

A few years ago I DESTROYED my blonde hair by dying it dark brown (and then bleaching it back to blonde) all from a box and the Damage Remedy products from Aveda absolutely saved my life. If it wasn't for them I might have had to cut most of it off because it was so damaged. Their restructuring mask is my holy grail and I still use their daily repaor serum as a leave-in every day after showering.

@Annmarie0 Broken hairs by the roots/rootline can be very troublesome!  I used to suffer a lot from this until I really started babying my hair: wide-toothed comb, washing my hair less (dry shampoo is a lifesaver), not towel-drying, etc.  I have also found that Biloage Hydrasource Conditioning Balm decreases the appearance of the broken hairs I still have.

I also rec sulfate-free shampoo for overall hair health, a silicone serum as well as It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product for the appearance of silkier hair, and hair oils (I like to put them on dry hair).  Tag me if you'd like specific product rec's.

@Annmarie0,

I know how you feel! I was dying my hair a bit too often and my hair was looking really dry. I suggest giving your hair a bit of a break from chemical treatments such as bleach and using a mask a few times a week. I also recommend using a hair oil on your ends! I use this one as a night treatment.

@Annmarie0

I'd recommend going to a salon and getting a professional Olaplex treatment done. It's an internal treatment on the hair vs external so its going to relink broken bonds from within. Depending on where you live, this will cost anywhere from $45-60. After you can address the external needs - replacing lost moisture/protein.

Re: Best hair care products for damaged, broken and dry hair?

@Annmarie0 The products that rescued my hair when it was dry, damaged, colour-treated, and thinning were from Alterna.

ALTERNA HAIRCARE - Caviar Repair RX Instant Recovery Conditioner (daily, or however often you wash)

ALTERNA HAIRCARE - Caviar Repair RX Instant Recovery Shampoo (daily, or however often you wash)

ALTERNA HAIRCARE - CAVIAR CC Cream for Hair 10-in-1 Complete Correction (daily, before blow drying)

ALTERNA HAIRCARE - Caviar Repair RX Re-Texturizing Protein Cream (1-2 times per week)

Now my hair looks healthier, fuller, and shinier than when I was in my twenties (I’m in my forties) after a year of consistent use.

Hope this helps! 😊

I like using hair oils before and after I wash my hair and hair masks once a week (brands like Biolage, Alterna, and Oribe make great ones).  Also, use a shampoo and conditioner for your hair concern.  They make a lot of shampoos and conditioners for dry hair.
