Bad haircut advice

Help! I got my hair cut on March 15, and it is a disaster. The student hair girl cut me way too short, choppy and just overall BAD. Should I get an elastic loop ponytail to hide the mess? I’m thinking it will take until summer to grow out again.

Re: Bad haircut advice

Aside from @jozkid s advice, Massaging coconut oil into your scalp and then washing it out everyday will both hydrate your hair and increase circulation stimulating growth.

In the meantime I would get some pretty Bobbypins and headbands and try for purposeful messier hairstyles with added sparkle.

if you’re looking for a more groomed appearance you can use pomade to slick your hair down and use a headband.  Spraying your hair lightly with hairspray and brushing it down with a toothbrush will help with any flyaways and add shine.  @maggie40

if you want ur hair to grow faster a great shampoo that helps is named fast but you cant use it if u have colored hair

RE: Bad haircut advice

Thank you so much for the tip! I do color my hair so I’ll continue to find a solution.

Re: Bad haircut advice

@maggie40, putting the hair up in a pony tail is not a good idea. How about blow drying the top and using a style paste to keep the sides close to the head and down to the back? Then you can use hidden hairpins to keep the lower back tidy. As @jozkid said, it's a good idea to find a good hairdresser that could help you finding a shape you are more comfortable keeping while it grows. Meanwhile, google "short hairstyles" and look through the images, see if anything gives you some inspiration.

This paste is great for hairdos

Re: Bad haircut advice

OMG, I'm so sorry jozkid and maggie. I kept editing the post and forgot to remove the tagging that generates the email notifications 😞 Sorry!!!!

RE: Bad haircut advice

You could do that, but I think you may be better off going to a very reputable hair stylist to try and fix the damage from the last haircut. He or she may need to trim the ends/hair a bit, but at least you’ll leave the salon with a hair style that you really like. And that way, you wouldn’t have to wear your hair in a ponytail or bun everyday.

Re: Bad haircut advice

Ooooh sorry @maggie40. That's tough. Actually here's what I would suggest. Forget about putting your hair up for three months until it grows out, especially since it's not going to be a particularly graceful grow out. That's going to just make you crazy. I would go out to a great salon, find their best stylist, and have them try to salvage what you've got. They may be able to reshape it into something you may really like (albeit shorter). At least as it grows out, it would look "right." You know what I mean?
