Hi All,
Hoping people would be interested in this.
I want to work out regularly and have a group of people who can keep each other accountable, just do daily check IN’s. I keep falling off the routine and then get into inertia and then it takes few weeks to couple of months to start back up. I am still not fully recovered after last years health issues and excercising is imperative to my health and everyone’s health.
Please let me know your ideas !! We can structure it how everyone wants it.
I was thinking a check in and any tips people have, every day. This is the social group I interact most with and love the company of you kind and fun ladies.
Also let me know if we need to move this thread in any other group.
Some tips I learned for athletic/ athleisure clothes - I used buying new workout clothes as my motivation incentive for being consistent for 1 months rather than any food incentive. Used points to convert to gift cards and then bought 2 sets during sales. Before this I just had 1 legging and 2 Costco shirt. I didn't want to spend any money till I convinced myself that I would consistently use the clothes. Now I do so did some shopping 🙂
Leggings (criteria not rolling down on tummy fat, not needed to be pulled up a lot during the workout) -
Shirts -
How to take care of your workout clothes - I learnt about these recently. I always bought workout clothes from clearance racks in the past so used to just wash with regular clothes in normal cycle. That can cause them to fade soon. If investing in pricier/ better clothes, better take care of these 🙂
*****Goals ***** <<still updating>>
@naturalooks15 Excercise 4 x week. still get to 7000 steps on off days. PT specific exercises 4 x week
-Exercise at least once a day, no matter how little
-Go to an (easy) yoga class once a week until I can do it without muscle soreness the following day
Weekly goals:
Run 30+ min on at least 1 weekday, 6 miles on a weekend
Goal: 6-7 miles a week, split into 2 or 3 evening runs
Proof: Selfie or run stats screenshot
personal training/weight lifting 2x a week
add in a 3rd day of boot camp (class) and
a 4th day of just cardio (running)
Exercise 5-6 days a week (Lifting and cardio)
add more HITT cardio in approx 2x-3x a week
Hit my macro numbers everyday
Drink more water
Current goal is just to use the exercise bike consistently every day, even if it is only for five minutes. I did actually achieve that today.
Great goal @Anonymous keep going for it!
Great job! @Anonymous
Updated goals for few more folks. Let me know if I am missing your goals.
My daughter is into dancing and takes classes. Her dance teacher suggested she work on improving her flexibility. I seized that opportunity to have her try Yoga 🙂 She is a sport and signed up.
Now if only I can convince my younger one to try anything. Finally she has started on treadmill because of the incentive that she can watch things when on treadmill and that doesn't count towards her screen time allowance for the day 😄 😄
@naturalooks15 😂 If she likes to run (or discovers she likes running), a decent way to do interval training is to watch TV while running a moderate pace on a treadmill and use commercials as interval sprints and walks. It’s one of the only ways I get any enjoyment out of treadmills. Heh, now I’m gonna call them dreadmills from now on.
Ooh... This is a good idea @WinglessOne I will tell her about it. She watches kiddie things on youtube but I do think they still have short commercials.
My dream is to turn a corner of my garage into fitness corner, maybe I will have a TV there when I do that someday 😊 for now iPad it is.
I posted an update yesterday but it said it had to be approved? Seems to be lost in the internet purgatory. Anyway!
The past two days I’ve been to F45. A studio by me does a one week free trial. I’ve never done F45 and it feels a little too CrossFity for me. I’m not really into weight work and I don’t think the instructors really watch for proper form. But! I have been getting great workouts and it is just a free trial. I’ll update you guys Sunday on my final thoughts!
That sounds interesting @scott1201. I've actually never heard of F45.
@scott1201 I’ve avoided F45 because I’m not into CrossFit (for various reasons) and it does seem similar. Interesting to hear you confirm that. I’m glad you’re still getting something good out of it, though!
Check-in 06/25:
I use the bathrooms on the first floor at work and take the stairs each time...oops, work has been taking up my running time
Weekly goals:
Run 30+ min on at least 1 weekday, 6 miles on a weekend
Lol I used to do that when I worked in a hi-rise @RNGesusPls got in a mini workout and a mini break all at the same time.
Gotta take advantage of those stairs @eshoe lol. Mine's not a hi-rise but I'll take what I can get 😛
Check-in Tue 6/25 : 1.5 hr yoga (though easy class because it was for beginners). I took my daughter to try it and she ended up enrolling. I decided to sign myself up for it as well. What am I going to do when she is doing the class. Thought good way to re-visit fundamentals.
That's great @naturalooks15. I've never done an actual yoga class, though I've tried to teach myself through videos, etc. I'm not sure if my form is that great, though. 🙂
I always forget how much i enjoy yoga until i make myself take a class. If anything, it'll be fun to be active with your daughter! Bonding and exercise 🙂 @naturalooks15
Yay! That's awesome @naturalooks15 ! I was going to yoga twice a week really consistently and haven't been in 3 weeks and my body is protesting daily. Once you get back into it, you can just modify the poses to something a little harder 🙂
Okay! I’ve thought about my goals and here are my thoughts. To preface a bit, I am already pretty active, I just moved, and I work from home. Also, I know myself well enough that “excerise” for me need to be a group fitness class and, and this is going to sound a little woo-woo, it’s not about burning calories or reaching a weight for me. I use exercise a class as a way to slow down my mind at the end of the day and to meet new people. With that being said:
I’ll also try to check in every day. Thanks again to @naturalooks15 for this great idea!
@scott1201 Looooooooooove your goals! Such a great idea to try out all the intro deals and of course, talk to other human beings 🙂 I absolutely use working out as me-time and a way to calm my mind, it's so important to take that little chunk of time for yourself!
@scott1201 I love your goals! I do most of my weight training at night—right before my PM skincare routine—specifically to help my brain wind down, ease some of my anxiety, and help me sleep. 🙂 Kettle bells are my meditation.
@WinglessOne I totally agree. When I had that awesome Pilates instructor, I used to call her Pilates class 'Meditation in Motion'. It was just great for mental wellbeing too.
