Hi All,
Hoping people would be interested in this.
I want to work out regularly and have a group of people who can keep each other accountable, just do daily check IN’s. I keep falling off the routine and then get into inertia and then it takes few weeks to couple of months to start back up. I am still not fully recovered after last years health issues and excercising is imperative to my health and everyone’s health.
Please let me know your ideas !! We can structure it how everyone wants it.
I was thinking a check in and any tips people have, every day. This is the social group I interact most with and love the company of you kind and fun ladies.
Also let me know if we need to move this thread in any other group.
Some tips I learned for athletic/ athleisure clothes - I used buying new workout clothes as my motivation incentive for being consistent for 1 months rather than any food incentive. Used points to convert to gift cards and then bought 2 sets during sales. Before this I just had 1 legging and 2 Costco shirt. I didn't want to spend any money till I convinced myself that I would consistently use the clothes. Now I do so did some shopping 🙂
Leggings (criteria not rolling down on tummy fat, not needed to be pulled up a lot during the workout) -
Shirts -
How to take care of your workout clothes - I learnt about these recently. I always bought workout clothes from clearance racks in the past so used to just wash with regular clothes in normal cycle. That can cause them to fade soon. If investing in pricier/ better clothes, better take care of these 🙂
*****Goals ***** <<still updating>>
@naturalooks15 Excercise 4 x week. still get to 7000 steps on off days. PT specific exercises 4 x week
-Exercise at least once a day, no matter how little
-Go to an (easy) yoga class once a week until I can do it without muscle soreness the following day
Weekly goals:
Run 30+ min on at least 1 weekday, 6 miles on a weekend
Goal: 6-7 miles a week, split into 2 or 3 evening runs
Proof: Selfie or run stats screenshot
personal training/weight lifting 2x a week
add in a 3rd day of boot camp (class) and
a 4th day of just cardio (running)
Exercise 5-6 days a week (Lifting and cardio)
add more HITT cardio in approx 2x-3x a week
Hit my macro numbers everyday
Drink more water
Love this idea! I just recently moved so am trying to get back into a routine. Will follow along for some ideas before I commit. But generally I am a spin, pilates, weights person. Spin and dance are the only cardio I truly enjoy.
Check in time! Got back in town Friday evening.
Saturday - new studio and class format that i LOVED. It's a local franchise with many different classes: heavy weights, light weights + cardio, cardio, strength yoga, relaxing yoga. I took the cardio class and it was amazing and so hard. An hour of mostly body weight cardio exercises (lots of burpees, jumping jacks, etc etc). This is definitely on the list for becoming my home studio. I'm planning on checking out the other classes before committing.
Sunday - tried a reformer Pilates studio that just opened in a nearby neighborhood. I've taken reformer Pilates for a couple of years now in many different studios but, at this studio, you have to take an intro class before any others to get acclimated to the machine. It was only a half hour and most of it was spent explaining the reformer. So, it was kind of a bust for me since i already knew what they were explaining. I love Pilates but i don't think this is the studio for me. There was a HARD sell after class and the instructors were a little snooty.
Monday - back at the Shred415. Man this class kicked my butt! Lots of intervals running with hills and the floor work was all Arms / Abs based. I ended up running around 3.5 miles total and was totally dead afterward. I really like this place but i do think i'd get tired of this format after a while. I'm doing this all week so i think it'll be a good test if it keeps my attention.
Great post! I do Pilates reformer once a week and it's great for strengthening your core. I like taking both mat classes and classes on the reformer. I get so sweaty in class, so I never forget to bring my SEPHORA COLLECTION - Cleansing Wipes - Cucumber - Anti-fatigue.
<333
Yesss the Sephora collection wipes are wonderful, @PenelopeBT! The SEPHORA COLLECTION - Cleansing & Exfoliating Wipesin Papaya are my favorite!
@scott1201 your Sat trial studio sounds pretty great !! It's awesome that you are trying so many things.
I have thought about that but haven't executed. Maybe this would be a good way to find out what do I want to do for that 5th day add on I am planning.
Yes, I’d recommend trying out new places, @naturalooks15! On the mindbody app you can see deals on local studios, that’s where I started. Or ClassPass does a free two week trial where you can try out maybe 5 classes (they have a weird credit system but it’s an easy way to find new places)
@scott1201 Great workouts! Bootcamp and Interval training always make me feel like such a rockstar while I'm doing it, then complete death roughly five minutes after class is over 🙂 I don't know how you ladies do it, it took me a whole week to recover from one of my sister's regular weights+cardio studio classes (box jumps should be banned!) and here you are, multiple times a week 🙂 Great job!
Yes I am feeling that ouch feeling right. now. Hah! I think HIIT and boot camp are so fun because they’re so fast but when your brain catches up after, sheeeeew! @MissPuff
Thanks for the reminder pings @naturalooks15 !
Mon 07/29: Was bored at work so left early and ran 3 miles!
Other than that, I've been a busy sloth lately lol
@MissPuff I work hard while being as lazy as possible LOL I made that oxymoron up on the fly.
A day early, but an early Sunday morning run with my favorite ABH lipstick - Plumeria. Did. Not. Budge. Much like my run 🙂 JK...sort of. The intended 6 mile tempo run turned into a 4 mile-please-just-make-it-back-to-the-car slog. The sun was no joke, temps were already +85 F by the end of my run at 10:15 am!!!
hahaha, thanks @scott1201 ! Trust me, this is after quite a bit of cool down and stretching, I look like I'm dying when I run, my face turns ALARMINGLY red, like, strangers will stop me to ask if I'm okay. I mostly run with a hat just so no one can see me and freak out 🙂
Great going @MissPuff and it's extra fun to be running with lipstick on. You look radiant.
@naturalooks15 I started wearing lipstick on my long runs because in the winter, I'd have this bad habit of wiping off my chapstick (and touching my face in general) during the start of the run, then just have chapped lips the whole time. The lipstick was intended as a prompt to STOP (though there were a few crazy looking smeared lipstick runs when I forgot...) but then I kept going because it's a nice little pick me up on an early morning run!
Yes please! I’ve spent the past year getting back into a routine of healthy diet and exercise, and it’s incredibly difficult to maintain my motivation. One factor is I travel pretty frequently and often end up skipping my classes and eating unhealthy rather than making them up when I’m home in between trips. I’m aiming for at least 2-3 activity sessions per week between Pilates and Yoga.
Feel free to check-in as and when you can. I tag people for just check on them, not pushing to post here more frequently but good to have company 🙂
@eshoe Can't wait for you to join us here !! 🙂
Updated goals for @gonerogue and @jen143xo in the initial post.
Check-in Sat 7/27 : 1.5 hr Youga
Check-in Sun 7/28 : 1 hr Orange Theory
Weekly check-in: 5 days total. 4 days proper workout. Forgot to wear it on Fri but did a 2 mile walk so i am pretty sure I closed the move goal. almost closed the move ring on 6th day (Thur) but need to add that 5th day more consistently.
@naturalooks15 thank you for the tag! I am going through the thread and getting familiar with it/what everyone’s goals are. I need this accountability right now to motivate me to just MOVE. I did take a screenshot of the Popsugar Take Flight YT video I was working out to, because every time I watch it, I wonder if that’s @JaneanBT 😄
So I will put together a little plan and update by the end of the week. Thank you for starting this, it’s so encouraging and just what I need right now.
Hi @eshoe ,
This def ain't me lol For a second I was like, wait? I don't remember participating in a work out video! I wish I was in shape and toned as this girl is!
Fun fact: you will most likely never find me in a work out video, or at a gym...or in work out clothes.
BUT, after checking this thread out, you all are so inspiring and may just get me back into working out. (It's just been really hot in California and I don't want to move or sweat anymore than I already am) 😉
If you have any tricks and tips into jumping back into working out let me know! Also where do you all find your work out clothes?
Best Wishes,
Janean
