Why the Cheap Looking Moschino Collaboration?

What is up with the cheap looking Moschino product collaboration? It's even expensive!!! Sephora is magnificent and lowered their standards with this tween looking collection. Am I being too harsh? It's just how I really feel.

I hated those erasers as a kid in school (always smeared everything and broke at the worst time!), and dreaded getting that same package at the store. I cringed when I saw the sponges- ugh, not the nostalgia I’m interested in recreating.

@mermaid805 I hadn’t noticed the collection so I had to look it up when I saw this thread. Glad I didn’t see it last night. 😂 I would have had nightmares about school. Those erasers were the worst. They would make everything look awful and then I’d have to search for a new eraser to erase the eraser’s mess.

I love how I'm not able to read the negative reviews under the products....but every other product on the site I can read with no problems. Now there's like 2 random 5 star reviews...that will load....yeah no thanks... I hope this crashes and burns. nothing but a copy cat.

I thought that was strange too. When I clicked on it, nothing was there... After a few people on here explained the artistic background behind it I could appreciate the thought behind it. I still think the collection is cheesy and very TWEEN though. The price point for something I thought was aimed at a very young crowd was so high. I just think Sephora can do better. I'm curious what the reviews said before they were scrubbed... Lol

Looks cheap because that’s what happens when you try to mimic something that’s already been done. This whole collection Jeremy Scott has “designed” is from the Crayon Case.

It is tween looking, but I consider it on brand for Moschino. Moschino has always been a whimsical and youthful brand for me, with all their teddy bears, bright colors, and general loudness. I can understand how some people would consider it immature. Jeremy Scott, from what I've seen, tends to create pieces that are Kitsch. The imagery is usually associated with pop culture and consumerism. The Sephora collab goes with Moschino's SS2019 collection. There are white suits, dresses, and accessories that look like a child scribbled on them with jumbo markers. I'm assuming those are the pieces Scott had in mind when he created the office/school supplies makeup. They are meant to be large and obnoxious as that's the aesthetic that is popular right now with Kitsch. Kitsch as an art-type has become commonplace in contemporary pop culture and fashion. You either love it, or you hate it. I hate it but I love the comedy in it. I do agree that the collection looks cheap but I appreciate the intent behind it.

Exactly! Expecting Jeremy Scott to do something that isn’t obnoxious & tacky is unrealistic.

I had no idea about the history behind it. I just though it was tacky but I like how you explained it. Art is objective so people will differ. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be appreciated. You definitely make me look at the collection differently. I don't want it, but I understand it more. 🙂

I couldn't agree more! It's hideous, not practical, and so overpriced!!! Worst collection ever!!!!!!!!!!

I think the brand packaging is cute! it really gives the makeup community a sense of childhood nostalgia.

I can respect that! I still hate the collection but I understand what you are saying. If they developed a Care Bear’s collection I would be first in line. 😂

I just see it as them spicing it up lol! I think it’s a twist from everything else that’s sold there, have you personally ever tried the makeup itself?

I honestly haven't tried it. I don't think I could afford it! LOL I have to admit the eyeliner is pretty cute. I wouldn't mind trying it.
