Halloween!  It seems like every year it becomes more and more popular.  The candy.  The decorating.  The costumes.  It's so much fun for us to share in the celebration of the season.  Post in as much or as little detail as you'd like.  

And since this is being posted a little early, there are some bonus questions at the end for you to post on now, or once you're suffering from Halloween withdrawal come November 1st!

Oct 1: I don’t really have any “favorite” monster, ghoul, or ghost. I love Monsters, Inc. though; does that count?? 

Oct. 2: I’m all for the classic black and purple witch aesthetic. Throw in a black cat, maybe a snake, and that’s all I need. Of course, as a fan of the Wizarding World, I do feel compelled to remind everyone the girls are in fact called “witches,” not “wizards,” and I do rep my house (Slytherin 🐍) in my classroom.  

Oct. 3: The Tell-Tale Heart. Loved it when I read it in school, still love it when I read it with my students. I’ll point out, kids today LOVE horror, so none of them are at all bothered by the narrator’s detailed account of his -ahem- *treatment* of the old man, and every year it’s one of the stories they are the most engrossed with. 

Bonus questions: 

-Cardigans all day. 
-Milk chocolate.

-Her robe, of course! 
-Skull decor is growing on me, but I still prefer black cats.

@alexasteph  I don't think I've ever read The Tell-Tale Heart, but I have read several other stories by Poe and loved them, so I'll have to check this one out too. You are so right about kids not being fazed by horror these days, I am always surprised by how many of them actually love that stuff - I work with kids at a library, and I've had kids as young as 6ish ask for "scary" books! Five Nights at Freddy's is huge, and Goosebumps is having a resurgence.

@caitbird I forgot about Five Nights At Freddy’s! They were obsessed with that too. Michael Meyers is just like a cute little character to them too, which I think is so funny. They have him on shirts and bags and notebooks like he’s Snoopy or something hahaha.

I've never read this book @alexasteph I think it's going to have to be something I put on my list to read, it's a classic. Your students sounds awesome btw. 😃

@CynthieLu It’s a short story so you probably won’t find it as a stand alone, it’ll be in a collection with other works by Edgar Allan Poe. I also wouldn’t be overly surprised if you can find an audio reading on Spotify or YouTube. 

Oh my goodness, it’s crazy how they are just unbothered and not scared of things at all. I think it’s due to Stranger Things, Wednesday, the recent It movies, etc.

10/2: What type of witch are you drawn to? I like white witches, good witches, cottage witches, hedge witches, etc., any type of witch who is essentially good or harmless and attuned with nature! That is the type of witch I would want to be, if I were a witch.

10/2: What type of witch are you drawn to?  I had to Google it because I wasn't familiar with all the different types. I found one the had 23 types listed, but mentioned there was a lot more. The 5 ( I tried to narrow it down) I felt drawn to, in no particular order- Cosmic, Chaos, Dianic, Cottage, and Swamp.
