It's 2025 and we're on YEAR EIGHT (8) of the Pan It! Challenge 🍾
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started (please share the following)

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:
Past Panning Challenges:
For those of you who are interested in trying the challenge but fear you may not finish or move as quickly as others, remember:
hahahaha! I don't even know how I stuck with one palette for so long @Samtian! Every day. I mean, I know that I lean heavily towards being a creature of habit, but my word!!! 😅 It makes me tired thinking about how long I used that palette (gorgeous as it is) every day for so long. 😲 Yes, this is a beauty - it's a good one for an everyday look but there's enough sparkle and smoke in a couple of the other shades to use for adding some oomph to an eye look too.

Without primer, one swipe
Right @Samtian? 😆 If I’m remembering right, this was part of a haul made courtesy of the $100 Rouge Rewards. 🙌🏼 I had my eye on it since it launched, but waited. I’m getting better at that. Waiting, that is. I feel like I’ve been pretty good at spending Rouge Rewards. Hahahaha!
January progress (how is January over already?):
Davines LOVE Smoothing Shampoo for Frizzy Hair (mini) and dae Monsoon Moisture Mask 8 oz/ 240 mL (foil)
I would definitely purchase both of these in full size. I was amazed at how smooth the shampoo made my hair without weighing it down. It is my favorite Davines shampoo so far. The Monsoon Moisture mask reminds me of the Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask.
Currently working on my Kerastase stash.
Things being evicted from the Shelves of Shame in January 2025:
BBW body cream in Dream Bright - notes are sapphire berries, night-blooming orchid, crystallized vanilla. Loved the scent, hated the fact that this looked exactly like mustard.
BBW body cream in Midnight Amber Glow - notes are smooth amber, caramel latte, vanilla bourbon. I am not a boozy fragrance girlie. I need to stop buying things that have boozy notes. (Looks at the Cozy Vanilla Bourbon still in my collection).
NOT PICTURED Method Conditioner in Pure Peace. Supposed to be a Volumizing conditioner; for me it didn’t do much of anything and the scent was not my favorite because the peony note (which I do like) was overshadowed by the rose note (which I do not like). The bottle already went out for recycling in November 2024 because I’m decanting my shampoos and conditioners into a pair of clear bottles because Crow Brain likes to see the visible progress for motivation. The decanted product is officially finished.
Method Conditioner in Simply Nourish. Supposed to be moisturizing, and by golly she’s thick and heavy. I can only use this conditioner and the corresponding shampoo in the winter months when I’m dry and trying to not be a human static charge. I had about 1/3 of the bottle left and decanted it into my clear conditioner bottle with a third lighter/daily Method conditioner to make it a bit more usable, so the actual product will be used up over the course of the next few months. It will get marked as officially done in my inventory spreadsheet when the decant bottle is done, but for the purposes of Shelves of Shame Eviction I’m adding it to January’s post.
Summer Fridays Overtime mask. This is in the same family as the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme mask: it’s yellowy-gold, washes off after about 10-15 minutes, has exfoliating particles for scrubby action, and contains chemical exfoliants as well. The nice thing about this one compared to PTR is this one didn’t burn my face upon application. If you like wash-off masks and your skin isn’t too sensitive, it’s really nice.
Summer Fridays R + R mask. This is like if the Fresh Rose face mask was twice as thick, stole the walnut chunks from the old school St Ives face scrubs of yore, and also decided to mimic an oil spill on your face after attempting to rinse it off. This was the opposite of Rest and Relaxation. This was Walnut Chunks Hurt My Face and How Do I Remove This Layer of Oil Before Bed. No wonder it took me over a year to use it up.
Summer Fridays Jet Lag mask. This is the one I purchased in November 2023 - its brethren purchased in April 2024 has not yet been opened. But I loooove it as a moisturizer. No way do I wipe/rinse this plush wonderful moisturizer off after 10 minutes. This is my rescue moisturizer when my skin is especially angry or especially dry. It works great as a layering moisturizer. BUT, please don’t pay full price. Get this thing during a sale.
CANDLES
BBW/White Barn Winter Pear Forest - notes are wintergreen leaves, snowy pears, hint of cypress. LOVE LOVE LOVED this one and I hope the BBW gods bring it back in the future. All of the notes were present and perfectly balanced.
BBW/White Barn Birchwood Orchard - notes are white birch trees, fresh apples, a hint of clove. My second favorite from this month. Clove was definitely the strongest note but it was cozy instead of overpowering thanks to the freshness of the birch and apple. Another one I’d repurchase if they bring it back.
BBW Hibiscus Waterfalls x2 - notes are tropical hibiscus, sweet peach nectar, fresh waterfall mist. Don’t ask me why I have two because I don’t know. I probably didn’t mean to add both to cart during the frenzy of an online purchase. Despite the peach nectar note, both of these smelled like basically fresh water. Would not repurchase.
Better Homes & Gardens Periwinkle & Pansy - notes are periwinkle, rose, spring pansy, sugared apple & pear, cashmere, blonde woods, and vanilla. It’s got a lot of notes, but during burning basically smells springy fresh in a bit of a boring way. I would have liked it to be a bit more complex. Plus it tunneled worse than a groundhog in a cornfield. Would not repurchase, despite how pretty the ombré blue-to-white jar is.
Great job!!!! And I am not sure if you know this but, if you return 5 Summer Friday’s empties you can get a 25 dollar gift card for the website. There’s more info on their website about.
Excellent work @KeriCherryDee! I had no idea Better Homes & Garden made candles. It’s too bad it didn’t perform well; the jar is very pretty.
@itsfi thank you! The BH&G candles normally are pretty okay; I’m not sure why the Periwinkle & Pansy one in particular was sooo bad. I think they’ve scaled back on their candle range, but I can find them in Walmart and my favorites are the really big 4-wick candles
This year, my goal is to finish all of my hair products by the end of the year. I have accumulated SO many full-size and sample size shampoos, masks, and stylers because I like to try new products, and because I like to "hair cycle" (i.e., switch up my shampoo/conditioner frequently to meet specific hair needs). I will post my progress at the end of each month. At the end of the year, if successful, I will treat myself to a big haul when the holiday sales roll around.
I am going to try to stick with one shampoo/conditioner/mask product until it is finished instead of "cycling." To get rid of my blowdry/heat protectant products, I will blowdry my hair more often. I might let it airdry 80%, then finish with the dryer. It looks so much better than when I airdry!
What a grreat project to work on this year @Mel231. It's crazy how quickly all the hair care products can accumulate. I've gone down to a rotation of 2 different shampoos / conditioners / masks in use at any one time, though I do have allow for a third shampoo (clarifying shampoo) and a leave-in conditioner.
Excited to see your progress throughout the year. Love the treat you have planned for yourself when you have met your goal!
More pictures coming up coming days but for now
I still have high hope that I will finish this Marc Jacob Tan-tastic bronzer this year. 🥰
The Guerlain meteorites is a slow burning project. I started using it a year or so but look. I finished a quarter of it. Can you see the I finished half of the top layer? 😍 I’m shooting for finishing half of this jar by end of year.
Oh memories! I used to love the Marc Jacobs bronzer! ✨
@blackkitty2014 😮 magic balls actually disappear?! Fantastic work!!
