It's 2025 and we're on YEAR EIGHT (8) of the Pan It! Challenge 🍾
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started (please share the following)
Please Use This Thread To...
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:
Past Panning Challenges:
For those of you who are interested in trying the challenge but fear you may not finish or move as quickly as others, remember:
Items being evicted from the Shelves of Shame in September 2025:
It was Christmas in September only because these body/hand creams are small and I wanted some more room in the little storage cubby. It also helps my empties numbers for the month. I don’t like to have tons of holiday-specific stuff in my collection only because I feel like I have a short window of time to use them.
BBW body cream (travel-size) in Frosted Coconut Snowball: notes are frosted coconut, North Pole vanilla, winter freesia, snow-kissed woods and spun sugar. Loved this; can’t believe I’ve slept on this scent my whole life. If this comes back during holiday this year, I’ll get a full-size lotion.
BBW body cream (travel-size) in Twisted Peppermint: notes are cool peppermint, sugared snow, fresh balsam and vanilla buttercream. I don’t quite get the hype—like it’s a nice scent for snowy wintertime, but that creamy note throws me off justttt enough that I kind of don’t end up liking it. I want it to be a fresh cool “starlight” candy peppermint, not the body cream version of one of those soft-ish puffy peppermint candies.
BBW body cream (travel-size) in Golden Berry Mistletoe: notes are sparkling berries, sugared spruce and frosted air. It mostly smells like berries; partner thought I had on a perfume and he liked it. It’s good but not particularly special, so I’d potentially repurchase pending sales/deals.
BBW body cream (travel-size) in Bright Christmas Morning: notes are ripe red berries, blood orange and crisp apple. This doesn’t particularly evoke Christmas-specific feelings. It’s kind of like Golden Berry Mistletoe with some orange citrus vibes. Probably not something I’d repurchase.
BBW hand cream in Vanilla Buttercream: notes are Tahitian vanilla, whipped buttercream and powdered sugar. Loved loved loved this. I love smelling like a dessert. I bought this during semi-annual sale this year and I was disappointed to find out once it arrived that it was manufactured in 2023, so I didn’t want it lingering in my collection at already two years old. Would absolutely repurchase though.
BBW hand cream in Winter Candy Apple: notes are red apples, winter rose petals, candied oranges, maple leaf and fresh cinnamon. It’s a classic Christmas/winter scent and I do enjoy it; I’d consider repurchasing pending sales/deals if I pick up Frosted Coconut Snowball.
BBW hand cream in Into the Night: notes are raspberry noir, amber crystals, velvety rose petals, creamy patchouli and mocha musk. This was a gift from a coworker and not a scent that I would have purchased myself since I don’t like most rose scents and I REALLY don’t like patchouli in any format.
Babo Botanicals Eucalyptus Remedy Bubble Bath: this is a really thin, liquidy, light gel that makes bubbles for approximately five minutes. And that was when I used like a quarter of the bottle instead of the recommended “two capfuls”—two capfuls makes enough bubbles for a Barbie dollhouse bubble bath. It was also short-dated when I bought it (online), so again I felt the need to move it out of my collection quickly. I’ve got another bubble bath from Babo Botanicals that I’ll finish next month.
MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Primer and Setting Spray Original: it’s a cult classic product and I’ve used up another bottle in the past, but I’m looking forward to trying a new setting spray after I finish my remaining OG Urban Decay All-Nighter. This bottle was also before the sprayer was redesigned, so I have spent a long time dealing with the super-squirty spray and I’m very glad to move on past that.
CANDLES (there will probably be fewer per month going forward because I really want to burn my fall/Halloween candles all October and I’ll be bouncing around scents)
BBW Champagne Toast: notes are bubbly champagne, sparkling berries and juicy tangerine. Loved the packaging most of all. The scent was okay and would probably be something I’m more inclined to burn in spring.
BBW Blush Amber & Peony: notes are sweet peony, warm musk and golden pear. Man that musk note dominates—I adore the packaging and love how moody the artwork is, but I really don’t enjoy the scent.
Spooky season is nearly upon us (I celebrate starting October 1st), so remember to grab your hat, your cat, your pumpkin and your bat! Next month should be another decent one for my Project Pan (I’m soooo close on some hair care and skincare)—and I’ve got the 2026 panning planning bug. We’re rounding the homestretch!
@lmaster lolol the shelves shall remain shameful until the shelves are empty and I can fit all my stuff in its proper small but ✨ aesthetic ✨ storage box 😂
You're so funny! "Evicted from shelf of shame" 🤣 @KeriCherryDee good job!!
@caitbird aww thanks 🥰 just out here doing my civic duty so no one else gets bamboozled like I did 😂
@KeriCherryDee wow, great job! I laughed 🤣 at your description of the "Barbie doll house bubble bath", you have a way with words! Glad there were some things in this batch that you enjoyed!
@KeriCherryDee, wow, you worked your way through a lot this month! Nice!
These are work in progress. I’m more or less halfway there. 🥰
Sisley Sheer Rosewood: this is a love. I lost track of how many Sisley lipsticks I panned before this.
Tom Ford Rose lip oil tint: it almost has no color when swatch but a sheer wash of pink on lip. Very comfortable. I bought this when it was marked half off not so long ago and already finished half
Prada Soft Matte Sedona and Hyper Matte Tamaris. I haven’t panned any Prada lip products yet but I’m confident I will.
@blackkitty2014 Whoo great work! That Sedona shade is stunning!
@blackkitty2014, I love that you’ve lost count of the number of Sisley lipsticks you’ve finished. Flex. 💪🏼
Oh, I do like the Prada soft matte formula, and Sedona too. Maybe I need to work on using that more. 🤔
Hi friends! Between the logging issue and laziness here are my pan-it progress since I posted last time (I can’t keep track anymore…please forgive) 😘
I finished these. All these products I have panned times and times again except Chanel No1. No1 based product was a drag or work for everyone else except me. I hate it 😂🤣
Also finished these
The following was slow burn progress but I’m getting closed to the finish line. I hope to finish HG powder in the next month or so and the Guerlain pearls by mid 2026
The following products went bad before I have a chance to make a dent on any of them especially the Lisa Eldridge’s. I think I only used it once and now I can’t squeeze anything out. 😂🤣 They will be tossed of course.
@blackkitty2014 Wow wow wow! Amazing work! I find it hard to believe the magical balls have a bottom.
Woah, you're so close to polishing off those Guerlain meteorites @blackkitty2014! 😍😍😍 And that Hourglass powder, too! Look at you go! #goals
It’s me—Hi—I’m the pan, it’s me. ☺️ Hit pan in a mini Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Seduce (“soft pink beige”). Not as iconic as hitting pan in Paaarty, but I’m proud all the same. No eviction for Seduce yet; we’ll renew the contract for another year (possibly two).
Items being evicted from the Shelves of Shame in August 2025:
BBW body cream in Fall in Bloom: notes are juicy plum, wild blooms and velvet moss. It’s an okay scent and Is very perfumey—I’d like more plum from it. I mixed it with the other body cream I finished this month, which was an interesting combo. Then the universe decided to have a laugh at me and my sister gave me two more of Fall in Bloom that she bought during SAS this year (she blind bought them thinking they were a different scent).
BBW body cream in Chasing Fireflies: notes are golden pear, jasmine blooms and illuminated woods. Is the pear anywhere in the room with us? I don’t think so. This was also Dijon mustard yellow, so I mixed Fall in Bloom with it to a) tone down the color and 2) tone down the strong perfumey scent. I want to smell like food, not the fragrance section of Nordstrom.
Sun Bum Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30: I unfortunately went overboard in 2024 with sunscreen purchases and, once again, the universe laughed at me this year by having the wettest March through June that I can remember. This took soooo long to finish. Pray for me in 2026 when I try finishing my other big body sunscreens. This one smelled great but it felt too greasy for me.
Sephora Collection Clean Solid Deodorant in Coconut: thank you for your service, but you did nothing other than smelling vaguely coconutty and not irritating my underarms. I’ve got…4 more antiperspirants/deodorants to use before I reach my arbitrary goal number.
Juliette Has A Gun Lust for Sun eau de parfum sample: notes are luang-ylang, coconut water and vanilla. I don’t think JHAG fragrances mesh well with my body chemistry; this left me wanting more both in terms of a solar scent and a sunscreeny scent. JHAG also fades on me really quickly.
COSRX The 6 Peptide Skin Booster Serum: the first of two products that the Panning Pixies refilled every night. I thought I was going to be finished with this three months ago. It’s decent, but there are other things I’d prefer to purchase. Also I think this caused some of my moisturizers to pill excessively.
Thayers Witch Hazel Facial Toner in unscented: the second product that magically refilled overnight. Again, it’s decent but I like other things more.
La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermallegro Soothing Repair Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin: I like this moisturizer and it was great for times when I was having issues with dermatitis/allergy flare-ups. I just wish it was less expensive, had a better airless pump, and was refillable.
La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer with Niacinamide: the pilling moisturizer that doesn’t play well with other products. I am unfortunately still stuck with another one because I bought multiple on sale thinking this would be great because I like so many other things in the Toleriane range. It pills less now that I have the COSRX and Thayers products done, but it still annoys me. Plus it doesn’t feel like it sinks in much overnight.
CANDLES (pretty much all of them this month had wick issues—not sure if it’s incompatibility with the mostly-white wax or a bad batch of wicks)
BBW Whipped Coconut Milkshake: notes are vanilla ice cream, toasted coconut, and sugared amber. I wrote off this scent because it’s not much of anything in the body cream. This candle smelled fantastic. I adored it. They’ll probably never bring it back because of that.
BBW Backyard Honeysuckle: notes are sweet honeysuckle, orange flower blossom and neroli nectar. Very floral, very summer, very nice. Plus the bee packaging is so cute.
BBW Southern Magnolia: notes are white gardenia, fresh magnolia blooms and lemon verbena. Unfortunately this did not smell like magnolia, which is the one singular note I really wanted. Gardenia is quite strong for me, and also a bit grandma perfume.
BBW Vanilla Cloud: notes are airy freesia, vanilla cream and blonde woods. A rare occasion where my partner commented on this one and said he really liked it. It’s definitely not a gourmand vanilla; it’s more complex and perfumey with a warmth to it. The freesia definitely paired well with it. Plus the packaging is beautiful. I’d be interested in this as a body care scent.
@KeriCherryDee, congrats on hitting pan! I feel like with the Tarte blushers, you start seeing more and more pan at a faster rate after the initial pan.
