👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾 Hi All!

Can y'all believe 2019 is literally knocking on the door??  Given its proximity it's high time we get the 2019 Panning Challenge Rolling.

The "Rules"

To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Getting Started (please share the following)

• Which item(s) you would like to work on
• How long you will work on said item
• Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
• Starting photo of item

Please Use This Thread To...

• share what item(s) you are working on,
• provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
• ask questions,
• encourage others,
• motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:

• Take photos!!  When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes 😃
• If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
• Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc. 
• Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
• Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
• Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
• Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
• Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)

Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:

• Roll the dice: number your items and use a random number generator to pick what you will use each (day/week/month/etc.) 
• Layer/Mask: items you are less fond of under things you like
• Pan a Look: at the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday
• Recreate: a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
• Spice up an "everyday" look by adding subtle pops of color (in the crease or on the lower lash line, mix lip products to make shades wearable, etc.)

my fave fenty highlighter, Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal 🖤 used it all up in a year and up till now, still using it. still is very pigmented even if it hit pan already. Rih really did THAT 🥰

Woah!  Great job @andreadaqueen !  I agree, it's awesome that you got use out of both sides as I often hear people gravitate toward one or the other.

Awesome job, @andreadaqueen! I love that you've gotten great use out of both sides. I dropped my Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby on the floor and shattered the entire right side. But I am still holding onto it until the last shimmer! These highlighters are my fave for eyes and cheekbones.

Wow! @andreadaqueen I have almost hit pan on my Fenty Highlighter Moscow Mule/ Ginger Binge. I agree she really hit the mark with her highlighters. I have so many and this is the only one I use.

Project Update

My goal for October was to finish Jet Black and Rust. I managed to finish Jet Black pretty quickly but Rust has lingered despite daily use. Walnut and Olive are considered done, and I may say the same for Dk. Roast once I manage to hit pan 🤷🏾‍♀️. 

Although I'm still reeling over how quickly time is going by I can't wait to move on to the next year long project.  The shadows have continued to decline as far as performance is concerned & motivation to continue using has slipped along with it. Goals for November finish Rust and use at least half of Pink Cream, Maple, and Bark.

For those of you who picked items to work on for the year, how are you managing??

I hear ya on the performance of shadows. I don’t know if it’s me wanting to be done with a panning project or the quality is just subpar the closer I get to panning, but I have felt similarly about the Tom Ford quad I’m trying to pan. I keep trying to finish it but I find myself disinterested mostly because it doesn’t perform as well as it used to (at least I tell myself that). I took a break from it until I get the motivation to go back and give panning it another go.

It sounds like you’re wanting to move on so glad to hear you took a break!  Something else to consider: using the TF and layering another palette on top OR repressing the shadow with another to create a different shade altogether.  More than anything, celebrate all the work you've put into the palette.  Whether you opt to keep using it or not you've put considerable work into putting that purchase to use.

This month I cut my update time short because i wanted to be on time for the end of the month for once. So here are my updates:

I ended up repressing the Becca bronzer because it was hard to get an even colour on my brush and I hit pan again!

I also repressed the Nars duo into one and i used that up! 

And I expanded the pan in my Becca moonstone and im so happy about those! 

I also finished the Col-lab concealer! 

I have very little progress on my Cover Fx foundation stick and my Mac lipstick but im not too stressed about it.

I think i had an amazing 3 weeks and im so happy with my progress. 

Also if anyone is interested I created an Instagram beauty page where for now i have just been posting flat lays but i hope to start posting my panning progress and reviews just to keep myself accountable of my spending. If you would like to follow me its @papbeauty97 and id love to have you ❤️

Im going to try to finish what i can by end of november so i can spend december playing with product so i can figure out what i want to pan in 2020.
