👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾 Hi All!

Can y'all believe 2019 is literally knocking on the door??  Given its proximity it's high time we get the 2019 Panning Challenge Rolling.

The "Rules"

To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Getting Started (please share the following)

• Which item(s) you would like to work on
• How long you will work on said item
• Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
• Starting photo of item

Please Use This Thread To...

• share what item(s) you are working on,
• provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
• ask questions,
• encourage others,
• motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:

• Take photos!!  When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes 😃
• If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
• Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc. 
• Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
• Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
• Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
• Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
• Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)

Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:

• Roll the dice: number your items and use a random number generator to pick what you will use each (day/week/month/etc.) 
• Layer/Mask: items you are less fond of under things you like
• Pan a Look: at the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday
• Recreate: a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
• Spice up an "everyday" look by adding subtle pops of color (in the crease or on the lower lash line, mix lip products to make shades wearable, etc.)

@trishavt I so get that with eye shadows! It's always so weird to me when people (esp. youtubers) reference the value of an eyeshadow palette based on the pan size- I would prefer they were smaller and even just a little cheaper since I'm still not going to use any of them up anyway I just want the colors lol

@Brutalitops I totally agree! Smaller shadows would make me happier. It's so hard to pan anything non skin care related that having smaller pans would feel more satisfying to pan and give ppl the chance to try more colors/brands without worry about the impending doom of product expiration dates.

@trishavt Agreed, I always use up my skincare products but there is simply no way I could have the range of shades I'd like in my makeup products and then actually use them all- i just don't think it's possible

@ShortErica OMG it really is!! Not enough to pan one eyeshadow let alone four but I'm determined to use up this quad.

After 2 years of almost daily use, I can finally say I have finished my Hourglass Ambient® Lighting Bronzer Luminous Bronze Lightfrom my 2017 Sephora Favorites Summer kit! It took a lot of discipline but because it was such a great bronzer, it wasn't too hard to do. The shade was perfect on my pale complexion and the formula is one of the best bronzer formulas I have tried so far! It does contain some shimmer but the shimmer doesn't show once applied on the skin. Now that I'm done with that one, it's time to move onto to panning my MJ Coconut bronzer 😉

@gonerogue Super impressive! I just bought a FS during the sale- I've been using it daily and there's not even the slightest dent! It looks like I have about an eternity's worth of uses if it took 2 years to get through a Trial size😅

Bravo @gonerogue . I have this one, MJ Coconut and TF Ultimate Bronzer Terra that i need to work on.  Pretty sure those 3 will last me for 5-6 yrs ;).  It's so hard especially many pretty bronzers got released every Spring/Summer. 😉 I already put myself no buy on bronzers until i finish at least 1 of those 3.  We'll see how it goes 😉

Oh my goodness that's amazing! Congrats! I've been thinking about getting that bronzer for some time now, and will definitely have to get it after your recommendation.

Yes, it’s such a great bronzer! Considering that this was only a travel sized product, I would think that the full size might last double the amount that this one did. It’s a stunning bronzer so I will encourage you to pick it up 😉

@gonerogue oh my gosh!  Good job!!!!  🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Two years!  There are few products I could use on the daily for two years straight and not become extremely bored so I take this as the best product recommendation that you’re still liking it.  I believe I have both shades of this (and likely untouched). I need to rediscover them it appears.:>

@heartsmyface  thank you 😇 I know how you feel, I get bored when trying to pan products because I have the urge to try new things everyday but this bronzer was the exception. If you already own it, I think you should give it a try to see how you like it and hopefully it will become a staple for you as well 😬

So sorry for the lack of updates, A LOT is happening with life right now and I've definitely slacked off here.  I love seeing how much progress you all are making & the relentless support you all show to one another.

So this month was successful at first but then somewhere along the way I stopped the challenge in favor of using some of my favorite products.  I don’t feel like continuing on with this months lineup so calling it.  I enjoyed the Coffret D’or blush for a week before getting bored.  The becca moonstone has a bigger dent in it and the Too Faced Candlelight Glow has lost most of its imprint.  Small victory!!!!  I decided to declutter the pore putty powder and the broken becca mini.
