After chatting with a few of you it seems we were in need of an official "Project Pan" thread for longterm projects to get some use out of our respective makeup collections. All are welcome to participate!
To accommodate various interests the purpose of this thread is for participants to pick at least 1 item (preferably an eyeshadow palette) to use for at least a month (for a "one month one palette") or until December 31, 2017. You do not have to use the selected item(s) exclusively and working on simultaneous items is more than OK!
**No project is too big or too small, you know your collection, your goals, and your limitations, do what works best for you!**
Please use this thread to:

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Need some challenges/ideas to help you along the way? Here are some:
Prefer to pan other color items like highlighters or blush? Feel free to share your items, goals, and progress as well 😉
Now let's see some pan!

@RGbrown 12-15, wow! I think working on them is a great idea!! These are sneaky items, so easy to pile up and suddenly you're swimming in them, LOL
I had two phases fall upon me all at once...the "I must find my HG mascara NOW" phase happened at the same time as a weird "every mascara bothers my eyes" phase, so I tried a new one almost every day for a couple of weeks. I found a fave but held on to the rest for some reason. I find as I go through them again (at a much slower pace this time), most of them don't bother my eyes like they did before, so I dunno what was going on then. I've tossed one that had dried out, but so far so good for making myself rotate them over the last couple of weeks. 👍

@ElleElleG You're good at this and offer really good tips. Challenging others to use 2/3 shades that you wouldn't normally use in a palette is a good idea.
Great progress @ElleElleG. hitting pan is harder than I realized. I've been using a tom Ford quad for about a year and I've got so much work left!
LMAO @trishavt I had to read your post a good 5x before it sunk in....too busy laughing at your profile photo!
But yes, so much product packed into that space! I definitely have to remind myself to place my brush in the same location each time I use it, otherwise I would never see progress!
Ok so I REALLY want to join this, but I really can't think of what I should try to hit pan on. I have a million palettes. I recently depotted a few to make them more accessible, and that has actually worked, but I'm thinking maybe I'll do foundation, concealer, bronzer and stick to one blush? I switch all of those a lot, maybe I can manage to get through them. But which ones?
@illianamarie I agree with @Mcakes that you may want to focus on foundation and concealer, unless you use bronzer and brush daily. For your eyeshadow palettes you could focus on rotating them as opposed to hitting pan if you want. How often you rotate is up to you: every 2 weeks, once a month, etc. Or you could pick certain shades across several palettes that you want to hit pan on.
I think the foundation and concealer would probable be the easiest to pan. I tend to skip bronzer and blush most days so it would take me forever to try to pan those items lol 😄
Hey all! Just so you know tonight I will be working to update the OP with tips/tricks and a couple challenges for those of us who are focusing on eyeshadow palettes.
Also, for some reason I am still not receiving notifications whenever anyone responds to the thread so please do not think that I am ignoring you if I haven't responded to something 🙂
OK, So I took this photo 10 days ago with full intention of posting it here, but apparently I forgot:
Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Bronzing Veil in Tropical Days and ABH Powder Duo in Ebony, both from mid-2015 (!)
I don't use bronzer year-round and only in the summer after getting a tan. I bought the KA bronzer after getting a wicked tan from our vacation in St. Martin. 2016, I barely tanned so this was neglected for a year. I just started using this again in April of this year and am determined to finish it by the end of the year. At this time the pan has shown through!
The ABH duo... I obviously favoured the darker shade before but nowadays I prefer using the lighter shade on the right. I took a few months' break in between and used up a Colourpop brow pencil, Tarte and a few other samples. I started using this again earlier this month. My goal is to hit pan on that but I'm pretty sure I won't finish it anytime soon since I was using this as my sole brow product for over a year and I've only hit pan on the dark shade.
@k617 That bronzer is SO CLOSE! (It also looks like a beautiful shade btw). It also doesn't look like you are too far off with the lighter shade of the ABH actually. Oftentimes I'll do layers of my powder to build it up to the preferred intensity, and/or mix it with the darker shade or one of the other eyebrow products you recommended.
You'll be seeing more pan in no time!
These are the main 4 palettes I use for eyeshadow (They're pretty much the only ones of good quality that I own).
I've had the Sephora palette for almost a year now and I'd love to say that I've used it up before that (December).
As for the Buxom one, I want to try to get more use out of the 3 shadows on the left. I know how to make a mermaid look out of it, I just need to stop playing it safe with browns and pinks.
These are my two Smashbox palettes. I got them both pretty discounted so I feel less bad for not using all of the colours as much.
I have no idea where to even begin with the Double Exposure palette's left side. I'm not used to creating darker/smokey eye looks so I tend to avoid those. I at least want to pan the shadows on the right and then I might pass along the palette to someone who knows how to use it.
As for the Master Class Palette, my goal is to start using the highlighters and blushes since I started getting into face makeup about a month ago. I also want to try to get more creative with the right side of the palette since it has barely been touched.
(Awesome idea btw. It'll keep me motivated to stray from my everyday looks.)
Ummm @SpaceLlama we need that mermaid look ASAP! (You just gave yourself your first challenge ;)).
You have a large variety of things to work with, which is great. I completely understand wanting to stray away from grey/cool-toned eyeshadows, I recommend pairing them with warmer shades to use them up!
Looking forward to seeing your progress!!
@ElleElleG I'll post it as soon as I get back home next week. 😊 I only brought my Sephora palette for this weekend so I have no choice but to use it.
Also, thank you for the advice. I'll keep that in mind once I tackle the Smashbox palettes. 😌
@SpaceLlama you could perhaps apply the same technique with your pinks and browns to the dusty purple and dark purple on the left?
I do a purple eye now and then and like to use a grey-ish purple as a transition, dark purple for outer corner and silvery white for centre of lid or inner corner! The dark blue you could use you line your lower lash line!
@k617 I love the idea of a silver/white with the purple shades! It would definitely make my eyes pop. I should also line my lower lash line more. I used to do it a few years ago but stopped and I'm not sure why. Thanks for the advice ❤️
so i've been thinking about this since i saw the thread a lil while ago. like others have said, i'm trying to use more of the stuff i own instead of just hoarding it all to look at lol. so not trying to finish any one thing, makeup-wise. but that being said, i recently noticed that some of my perfumes had changed a bit and i realized that instead of keeping a lil bit of every one of them i should just finish them! so i'll be working my way through some fragrances as well as putting a dent in all the samples i've received over the years. i'm running outta room for them!
ooh @BrwnSugaG You should join us in this thread: https://community.sephora.com/t5/Perfume-Posse/31-Days-of-Perfume-Challenge/m-p/2633976#M11775
