I am a teenager, so obviously my skin is gonna go through it sometimes. I use this acne gel called “differen” and it works very well! But there are some times when i STILL break out really bad, and I don’t know why! I change my pillow cases often, wash my face well and not too rough, and all the things and i just don’t know. i don’t eat terrible either

Hi. Pay attention to whether your old shade leaned warm, neutral, olive, peach, or cool because brands describe shades very differently. I usually recommend checking the undertone first in daylight on the jawline.

I’d look for lip products with silicones, flexible film-formers, lightweight esters, and some emollients built in. Before makeup, try applying a thicker ointment layer first, let it absorb, then blot excess gently before liner/stain. That usually helps products grip without sliding everywhere. For weddings slightly glossy healthy-looking lips usually photograph better than ultra-matte.

I have a history of cystic acne as well as easily inflamed skin. I had a lot of positive results in both healing time and overall inflammation when someone I was getting facials from added in a combination of mostly blue but also red light therapy. But, that was also after two rounds of Accutane that resolved at least the cystic acne so I think the extent to which it can help will vary based on the severity and type of your acne. Since then, I have gotten the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare DRx SpectraLite™ FaceWare Pro 3-Minute LED Device and will vouch for it helping a lot with inflammation and speeding up healing time when I do get the occasional breakout (but will also admit I'm not the greatest at using it consistently which is pretty key). Summed up I think red/blue light therapy can be very effective but it's just one tool in your routine and you'll get the best results if it's used in conjunction with the right skin care routine for you (including, if needed, a prescription topical or other medication). It can be great though!

@ksnyd In case you haven’t seen it yet, Sephora’s lactic acid serum is back with a new name (and bottle color): SEPHORA COLLECTION Resurfacing Serum 1.01 oz/30 ml I don’t know if it’s been reformulated, but it still contains 5% lactic acid + 5% niacinamide. And hey, you can get it for 30% off during the current sale. 👍

@AnnMB1 Sharing an opinion here, rather than hunting for two specific products that check every box at once you'd likely get better results building around niacinamide as a standalone serum used both morning and night since it gives you consistent active delivery regardless of which moisturizer you pair it with, and then choosing a lightweight non-comedogenic moisturizer with ceramides for night and a separate mineral SPF for day, because splitting the functions across dedicated products gives you more control over what's actually working and makes it easier to troubleshoot if something breaks you out.
