Happy September, BIC! 🍃🍂🍁 Pumpkin spice season is underway and soon, the air will get a little crisper and the leaves will begin to change colors and fall. As the days get shorter and cooler, it's important to keep on top of our wellness routines, adjusting as necessary to meet the changes in the weather, our schedule, or life in general.
If this is your first visit to the monthly Working Towards Wellness thread or you've been here before, welcome; we're so happy you stopped on by. Please feel free to stay and check out the thread as oft as you'd like and join if you're interested. If you're back for another month of wellness bingo, welcome back! Looking forward to seeing what everyone, new and returning, has and will be doing this month as part of their wellness practice.
We're each on our own personal self-care journey. If you're like me, that journey varies - some days are better than others. Wellness is a process - it's about progress, not perfection. It takes work. Much of that work falls on us individually, and our efforts towards self-care, as it should, but that effort is, and can be helped, inspired, encouraged, and supported by others - be it friends, family, coworkers, acquaintances, and the members of this Community. Wellness takes work - let's do the work together, BIC!
How To Play:
The short-and-sweet of it is to just jump right on in, by undertaking one or more of the activities described
in a square. Once you've performed the activity, that square is yours - check it off however you like. If you mark off 5 squares in a row, be it horizontally, vertically or diagonally, you've got yourself a bingo! It doesn't have to stop there (or start there), work towards checking off as many squares as you can, or clearing the board, by the end of the month. Just remember, be safe and make adjustments, as needed.
Posting:
Posting about your progress is completely up to you. If you feel up to sharing about the self-care activities you undertook, please do, no matter the number of activities! We love hearing about what worked or what didn't work for you. And, we're always looking to pick up some real life tips, tricks and techniques.
To post, click "Reply" in the lower left hand corner of this original post and write away in the box that will appear. You can list the activities you performed, with or without your feedback on the activity, and with or without a photo. You can also attach a copy of the wellness bingo card with the applicable squares marked off, if you'd like.
ooh @itsfi you always come up with the best stuff - i'm really looking forward to this "break out the good stuff". idk why im like this but i always tend to "save" the things i love and try to get through all the "mids" lol.
@jaaayp awesome job! And you got bingo! 🎉 I need to work on breaking out the good stuff too, I have a tendency to try to use up the stuff I don't like as much first, lol. Looking forward to that too!
Look at you go @jaaayp! 🎉 Congrats on BINGO!
You're not the only one; I'm a little better but still have a ways to go with hoarding the good stuff. @danielledanielle has made this her year (and possibly the start of many years, perhaps?!) of using the good stuff and I find that to be such a good outlook / approach / perspective to so many things - makeup, the fine china, etc.
I'm curious to know what's on your self-care bucket list. I need to work on mine; aiming to get that together soon or at least to carve out some time this coming weekend to get crackin' on it!
thank you! omg! I'm so glad you and @danielledanielle are on the same boat @itsfi ! I'm definitely gonna start doing this for this month.
Self-care bucket list - i had a 4 day weekend this labor day weekend where i did nothing but self-care which I really needed from the crazy work schedules, house DIYs, and just life being rough for the past few months. nothing too fancy so not sure if it was a bucket list (i crossed it as such because I assume i will create these every year as new things come to light) It was a list of simple things like getting to read (i absolutely love reading) to going to a scalp spa (this was really a bucket list item and tbh, it was a little disappointing lol)
@jaaayp, those are fabulous activities to have on a self-care bucket list. Great to hear you had an extra long weekend to get in some much needed R&R time for yourself.
Ooh, the health care maintenance is a good one... I've got some work to do! @itsfi
As organized as I can be @danielledanielle, I find myself scrambling to get to some of the things on that list, or I just push it off until it needs to happen and for some of them that's a little too late 😐 so hopefully I will be able to check that square off, too! 🤞
@itsfi thanks for the tag, I have a busy month planned but will find time for self care
@CorgiMommy, do what you can; every little bit helps.
Thanks for the tag, @itsfi! I haven’t been doing much wellness-wise because I needed stitches in a finger on my right hand (my dominant hand) three weeks ago and just got them out today. It makes it hard to wash my hair well so I haven’t been exercising. 🙄. I can’t wait to get back to the gym again and wash my own hair easily!
I actually think resting and letting your finger heal is doing what is best for your self care and wellness @curlychiquita. May not have felt like it since it takes you out of your routine and doing things that are good for you and that you enjoy. What a great feeling to be able to get back to it though! Have a great time back at the gym!
Homg, wishing you well @curlychiquita . It stinks when you can't do certain things, but you'll be back to it in time.
@curlychiquita hope things return to normal soon
