Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

Whether you're starting your personal wellness journey,  looking to refresh your self-care routine, working towards maintaining or further refining your wellness practice, welcome! ๐Ÿ‘‹ It's great to have you stop by, and if this seems like something that might be of interest to you, we'd love to have you stick around and join us, as you feel comfortable, for another month of wellness bingo.

April 2026 BWell Bingo (final).jpg

What is this about?
Simply put, it's about focusing on our personal wellness (in its various aspects), in a fun way, ร  la a game of bingo.

Self-care can be a very personal thing - what works for one person may not work for someone else. Practicing wellness is a process - it takes time and effort. We have our good days and bad days - moments when we are thriving; and others where we need to pause, take a deep breath (or multiple ones, for that matter) and reset. But even as our self-care journey is a personal matter, support, encouragement and just knowing there are others there working through it with you, doesn't hurt.

FAQ / FYI:

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

@itsfi ...I mean I'd travel however many hours just to try that thing, it looks delicious!

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

lol @Samtian, I'm pretty sure I can find a new route to take somewhere to pass by this place - that new route will not make any sense at all to anyone else though ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

@itsfi

That chocolate - is it a muffin? Or a cake? looks yummy! So does your pineapple water, that's a smart idea and I bet it tastes good. I am going to put it on my list of things to try next month or over the summer.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

@nuinui933, I forgot the full name of it but it had 'brioche' in it so maybe both a muffin and a cake then? ๐Ÿ˜… I thought it might be too sweet but it wasn't and was just right with coffee. ๐Ÿ˜‹ Oh yes, definitely give fruit infused water a try - I make batches overnight to give it plenty of time to get the most of the fruit flavors.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

Hi' I'm new in joining threads like this. for me I'm just trying to be more self-aware and I'm always in my head like I've become more introspective & honestly I thought I knew myself already but I've been learning a lot more about myself in the recent years. Also loving my simple skincare routine now. Hydrate and hydrate more. Digital detox honestly gave me a better sleep this week.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

Welcome @1emma19!. It's amazing how unplugging from our electronic devices or being online can help with the quality of sleep; happy to hear you're getting better sleep. Are there any activities you enjoy doing as part of your digital detox?

Week 2- Daisy's and Sweat Pea's.

The April birth month flowers are the daisy and the sweet pea. The daisy stands for innocence, purity, and true love, while the sweet pea is a way to say goodbye, send good wishes, or merely convey a thank you.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

@Samtian

Your emoji icons are always so cute. I didn't know that about daisies and sweat peas being April flowers, cool.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

@nuinui933 Thank you!

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

I love the daisies and sweet peas on your card, @Samtian!

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

@curlychiquita Thank you!!

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

I focused on wellness habits: less evening screen time, a long walk, and cauliflower with spices and almonds for balance. For consistency, work wellness challenges like BetterMe help track small daily habits across sleep, movement and nutrition.

Week 2 - April 2026 BWell.jpg

April 2026 BWell Legend.jpg

In honor of the spring savings event, the check in for this week are marked with the stamper resembling the renowned (and  beloved) black-and-white-striped Sephora shopping bag. ๐Ÿ˜

digital detox (30 minutes): Sleep hasn't been great the last couple of weeks, it's on me. I'm keeping the phone away from the nightstand but I just have been getting to bed later and later. That's also my bad. So I nipped that in the bud this Friday and have been trying to keep to an earlier bedtime; well, earlier than it had been. Fingers crossed I can keep with it this week and next, and next ... ๐Ÿคž

exercise (30 minutes): So I decided I was going to do another walk to and back from the Sephora store for my BOPIS order, and was (somewhat) mentally prepared for having to get through all those hills, though I told myself it would be at a very leisurely pace. Well, it rained while I was in the store (I may have perused the aisles a bit before I actually went to retrieve my order, lol) and it didn't let up. ๐ŸŒง It actually got worse, which was not in the forecast - it wasn't supposed to start raining until late that evening. Since I didn't have an umbrella with me and my sweatshirt didn't have a hood on it (wouldn't have helped anyway given the rain), I took the bus home. So I did get in some exercise, a little more than an half hour.

seasonal fruits and veggies: went with cauliflower, seasoned with some curry powder and leftover sauce; I added some sliced almonds for crunch since I overcooked the cauliflower slightly. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
Wellness 2a.jpg

spring bucket list: Went to the Cherry Blossom Festival yesterday. It's ongoing, today (well, maybe today, it's been raining) and again next weekend. They had different workshops, food booths and live music. It's been years since I've been and I put it on my bucket list for this spring. โ˜‘๏ธ

new to you
A few new to me happenings and undertakings:
  • From a Sephora / BIC / beauty angle, I picked up some foundation and skincare samples earlier in the month and have been testing a few this week. A new foundation isn't necessarily something I feel the need to pick up, but there have been a handful I've been wanting to try, to find a shade match for, so I've been trying to remember to ask for samples whenever I've been in or near a store. As I write that, I'm reminded that I should update the What are your Foundation and Concealer Matches? once I've found the shades that work for me. I'm sure there'll be some ,more newness later this month as well ... ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿ˜‚

  • In terms of wellness, a new-to-you activity I've been undertaking, or attempting to undertake and make a somewhat regular practice involves my morning routine and morning gratitude. To keep this short and sweet, lately, I've been making a conscious effort not to get up and retrieve my phone to check my email, text or newsfeed, for at least 5-10 minutes. I've decided instead to grab my phone for the purpose of playing my "morning (quiet time) song* of the month" and try to be still, listen to the music and melody,and use the time to reflect on what I'm thankful for that day. I/m slowly easing into the routine and have been aiming at doing it 2-3 days a week - at least one weekday morning and one weekend morning.

* This month's song is a cover of Dolly Parton's "Light of a Clear Blue Morning" sung acapella by The Waillin' Jennys. I was introduced to it at the downtime/meditation thing I've been going to. It's a 4-1/2 minutes listen and what a listen it is - the harmonies of their voices, the acapella version, and the lyrics are all very moving. And grounding. The song, which touches upon a fresh start, clarity, and promise of a better, brighter future, feels apt for spring with themes of renewal, growth and hope often being so closely associated with the season. I've also found it very grounding with all that is going on and what it means or looks like to find gratitude, to choose gratitude, in the midst of all of it. It can be a challenge for me to name the small things so I've been using the time to work on that. It's all very new and some days are better than others, but it's been going pretty well so far. I may need to pick out another song for variety as we get closer to the end of the month; we shall see.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

@itsfi

ya for cherry blossom festival! The curry cauliflower looks flavorful, what kind of curry do you use - a Thai curry powder or Japanese or Indian?

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

@nuinui933, I used Japanese curry powder and a bit of chili sauce / relish.

April After.jpg

Week 1- Pink Moon. The name stems from Native American traditions, marking the early spring appearance of moss pink (or wild ground phlox) flowers.

  • Gratitude- This last week I was in St. Louis for a photography convention. A lot of the people I met were so kind. Last year I had problems with my lighting equipment so I didn't take any this year. An instructor and model ( I had to cancel on last year do to it) let me shoot with them and use the instructors equipment, he also explained things as he did. I was so grateful!
  • Create/Exercise- My hotel was a few blocks away and I spent about 12 hours there each day so lots of walking and creating!
  • Brain Teasers- The usual, though I messed up my streaks ๐Ÿ˜ž
  • Financial Wellness- Every year gets worse for me and this one was no exception. Our house payment doubled and I was already living paycheck to negative paycheck. So I made a decision (helpful now retired *HAHA* Sabrina not as helpful) but it will help me for a few months break even at least. We did just get our yearly raise so that will help too.
  • Get outdoors- Trip stuff, went to the zoo.
  • TV- Every night at the hotel NHL hockey was on, much to my mom's dismay. We also got cheap nosebleeds seats and went to an actual game while in St. Louis. Seats ended up being pretty decent.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

@Samtian

A photography convention sounds like a lot of fun, do you go to a lot of them? That sounds like a great way to learn new things and visit some new places at the same time.

Re: Working Towards Wellness: April 2026 ๐Ÿฃ

@nuinui933 I only go to one a year. Some of the are quite pricey! I do want to do two next year, because one is in Vegas and I'm already down that way that time of year anyways.
