Tried and Tested: Milk Kush Mascara

We have been testing out so much newness and swatching all the lipstick, highlighter and eyeshadows so we are creating this thread to consolidate these conversations into one place. I will update this thread to discuss the newness of the moment at the Sephora office and to answer any questions you may have. This isn’t only for us to leave reviews, if you are using a product we’re talking about please jump in, share your pictures and let the Community know your thoughts!

Milk Kush Mascara

Milk Makeup is releasing a brand new mascara this Friday, 4/20, and I am obsessing over it! As many of you know, I'm a big mascara critic and don't fall in love with every mascara I try but this formula and packaging impressed me.

  • The ingredients: the most interesting aspect of this product? This vegan formula no longer contains the beeswax in Milk's old formula so is now formulated with cannabis oil also known as CBD oil. As many of you probably know or would assume, this is derived of cannabis and does not contain THC.
  • The formula: this product thickens lashes with heart-shaped fibers that add length, volume and curl. The oil nourishes and conditions for healthier-looking lashes.
  • The wand: this big, fluffy wand make the product apply like a dream.  I typically don't like bigger wands as my lashes don't get coated easily but the formula works very will with the the brush.

This mascara doesn't give crazy, fake-looking lashes (which I do love) but still coats my lashes fully in one coat so it's great for everyday application. It felt incredibly nourishing going on too so I cannot wait to see if this will improve the health of my lashes. All-in-all I'm very impressed with this mascara and will be reaching for it every morning!

Have you tried any cannabis-derived beauty products? Let us know!

Farsali Volcanic Elixir

Spoiler

Farsali.jpg

Exciting announcement, BIC! Farsali's powerful Volcanic Elixir is going to be available on Sephora.com (US and Canada) starting on 4/3! This product is not brand new but will be new to Sephora so @BrendaBT and I both tested this to see if it lived up to the hype.

  • The ingredients: this eilix is powered by Tamanu Oil, which is sourced from the nut kernels of the manunu fruit of the south pacific islands of Polynesia. This ingredient thrives in a volcanic atmosphere, hence the name "Volcanic Elixir." Volcanic ash provides nutrients and minerals to the soil of the Tamanu Tree in this environment, making this Polynesian Tamanu Oil extremely high in nutritional value.
  • The results: Tamanu Oil is said to be anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibiotic and to also have antioxidant properties. This ingredient aids in regenerating new, healthy skin.
  • The scent: we both loved the strong, earthy scent! You won't smell any fragrances in this product.
  • How to use: we both have been using this as a nighttime treatment and have been pleased with the results. This can also be applied to treat dry areas (elbows, knees, etc.), to hydrate your cuticles or even to relieve eczema or psoriasis.

All-in-all we are both impressed by this product and will continue to use this oil nightly. We both love that we can get skin-healing benefits for sun damage and acne damage while also hydrating our skin. If you are looking for something to heal inflamed skin, nourish damaged skin, or even to hydrate dry spots on your body this is a great product to try!

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Perfector

Spoiler

MUFE_Product.jpg

  • Shade range: we were surprised to see only 10 shades in the range but quickly learned the reasoning behind that – each shade is flexible enough to match 3-5 skintones. I had my reservations about this claim but was pleasantly surprised we each found perfect matches. My tan co-worker and I both love the same shade (#5) so the shades are truly flexible
  • Coverage: sheer-to-medium and buildable
  • Formula: this foundation is hydrating, sits light on the skin, evens skintone and contains SPF 25

MUFE_Pics.png

Our Thoughts: @BrendaBT and I are both full-coverage enthusiasts and this is a sheer-to-medium coverage foundation. I tried #5 and Brenda tried #7. While the first layer is noticeable, it is definitely too sheer to cover up all my texture and redness (hi hormones!). We both let the first layer dry, added a second layer and were shocked by the increase in coverage! You can use this along with your go-to concealer to get your desired coverage while maintaining a healthy, smooth complexion. This is a great foundation for those who love sheer or medium coverage!

Has anyone tried this foundation yet? What do you think?

Note: we know you may be curious about other newness. Let us know if you have any requests and we can try to get our hands on the product or find someone who HAS tried it.

RE: Tried and Tested: Farsali Volcanic Elixir

I tell you that I tried every lipstick out there and found that Pat McGrath is the best formula but it has a faulty tube. There is too much suction trust me I bought three one after another. 2 broke! The first one it sucked the inside cap off and onto my lipstick and then it wouldn’t close. The second one I opened it and the suction caused the lipstick to suck up and break inside the top tube. I bought a third tube at $38 dollar a tube. My husband had a fit by then but the formula is the best! I wrote to Pat McGrath labs and after the second Email I sent them with pictures and a description of this they sent me two new lipsticks. You HAVE TO OPEN IT UP VERY VERY SLOW! Trust me on this. I listened to Nikkie tutorials and Jeffree Star who don’t use these lipsticks every day like the average person does. But it is still the best lipstick formula out there.

RE: Tried and Tested: Farsali Volcanic Elixir

Love the pat lipsticks. Before I put the lip stick on with a brush, I use the nars stain

RE: Tried and Tested: Farsali Volcanic Elixir

Hey @KatieBT, I’m super intrigued by the Farsali Volcanic Elixir for healing acne inflammation but I’m wondering if it can be used if you have melasma. I’m not familiar with tamanu so I’ll do some research but figured I’d reach out to see if you had some thoughts! I currently use The Ordinary Azaleic Acid and Niacinimide + Zinc to combat both my melasma and acne scarring and salicylic acid for the inflamed hormonal acne - but thinking potentially this could be an alternative to the salicylic that wouldn’t dry me out as much.

Re: RE: Tried and Tested: Farsali Volcanic Elixir

Hey @AngeliqueR! I am not too familiar with melasma so I may not be the best source to ask - I am checking in to see if someone from Farsali can get back to you since they're the experts on their product.

Re: RE: Tried and Tested: Farsali Volcanic Elixir

Thanks @KatieBT! That’s really nice of you. For the record, melasma is a hyperpigmentation skin issue. Mine manifests as a dark upper lip. Super pretty! 😜 It’s similar to chloasma (the pregnancy mask) only it’s all the time. I even have it in winter so I wear physical sunscreen all year round. Thanks again for looking for more info for me 🙂

Re: RE: Tried and Tested: Farsali Volcanic Elixir

Hey @KatieBT for looping us in on this one. @AngeliqueR we are so glad to hear you're interested in our Volcanic Elixir! This was one of the first products our founder, Sal, created to manage his own personal skincare challenges with eczema. This product is 100% natural, contains anti-inflammatory properties and can help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation by conditioning the skin. Try it as a nighttime treatment with regular use and let us know how it works for you!

Re: Tried and Tested: Farsali Volcanic Elixir

@KatieBT  Wow!  I am super curious about the Farsali Volcanic Elixir now!   I will have to give this a whirl! Thanks for the heads up! ❤️

Re: Tried and Tested: Farsali Volcanic Elixir

@Tamara76 you're welcome! If you end up trying the elixir please let us know what you think 🙂

Re: Tried and Tested: Farsali Volcanic Elixir

The farsali sounds like a good product to have around in case I accidently do too many face peels back to back.  It happens more than I like to admit- no to the point that I break out but to the point I get a little sensitive.

I just recently started really giving their unicorn essence a go.  It’s effects remind me of the shu uemura tsuya skin drops but maybe a little more subtle.  I feel all I see is the shimmer in the product on my skin and not any actual skin improvement so far.  It still looks pretty and gives a beautiful from within glow.

Re: Tried and Tested: Farsali Volcanic Elixir

@heartsmyface I've been using Unicorn Essence for several months now, and I am also not sure if it has made improvements in my skin, but I seriously cannot get enough of the beautiful glow!!!  This is one of my hg products for every day use! ❤️

Re: Tried and Tested: Farsali Volcanic Elixir

That elixir sounds great!

Re: Tried and Tested: MUFE Ultra HD Perfector

@KatieBT,

The product page for MUFE Ultra HD Perfector does not list ingredients.  Could you tell me if this contains ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate,  octyl methoxycinnamate, or octinoxate?  These are all names of a chemical sunscreen that I am allergic to.  It would be helpful to have ingredients listed on the Sephora product pages.

Re: Tried and Tested: MUFE Ultra HD Perfector

I did a little digging online and found this product listed on a government database classified under HUMAN OTC DRUG LABEL, because it contains sunscreen. The website gives all of the ingredients and pictures of the packaging.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS - Octinoxate 6.74% Titanium Dioxide 2.28% Purpose Sunscreen

I hate to be the barrier of bad news 😕. I have issues with sunscreens too, as well as being unable to use items which contain salicylic acid, and needless to say, it sucks! I hope you find the perfect item, for you and your skin similar to this 😊!

Re: Tried and Tested: MUFE Ultra HD Perfector

@KatieBT
I haven't tried it, but since I tend to lean towards MUFE foundations, I am definitely curious!

I watched one of Wayne Goss's new vids where he tried this with one of their makeup artists. Seriously impressed. I love a good light coverage foundation. Really hoping to try it soon!

Thanks for the info and testing!

Re: Tried and Tested: MUFE Ultra HD Perfector

@KatieBT What a cool thread! Great idea 💜

@JessyAnne Glad you like it!! If you hear about newness and want to learn more - stuff you may not be able to get your hands on yet - let us know!

Tried and Tested: MUFE Ultra HD Perfector

Unfortunately I think these are way too warm for me being a fair cool toned gal, too bad..I'm in the market for a new concealer.

Re: Tried and Tested: MUFE Ultra HD Perfector

I think this product is gorgeous on the skin, and the claim of it fitting multiple skin tones is true for some shades, especially the mid-range ones.  However, for pale pink people like me I wish the lighter shades were a little less yellow.  I love MUFE because their Ultra HD is one of the only foundations that matches my skin, so I wish there were more options for people that are less neutral (I know that a lot of brands use yellow to color correct redness, but they all end up being too yellow and making me look funny).  I have used this on much deeper shades and it has worked great, so no need to fear there!

Re: Tried and Tested: MUFE Ultra HD Perfector

@katecal  I know the feeling!  I find a lot of brands' fair shades that are for pinkish people, but are too light for me.  I need light shades that aren't yellow.

I did try the new Armani Face Fabric Foundation in shade 0, which is a very pale shade for pink, undertones, in case you're interested.  I wish it came in a light shade with pink undertones, because neutral will make me look green.

Re: Tried and Tested: MUFE Ultra HD Perfector

I am curious about this product but the shade range / claims about the range seem very odd coming from a brand that made it a point to highlight how long they've offered 40+ foundations.

Very interested in seeing/hearing how this performs on deeper skin tones.

I was thinking the Very same thing. 👍🏽 good call
