Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

Hi BIC,

911 this is a Beauty Emergency! We need your help deciding which of the following items you would like to see in our Rewards Bazaar for 250, 500, and 750 Beauty Insider Points? Please rank the items from 1-3 for 250 and 500 points (with 1 being your favorite and 3 being your least favorite) and 700 points from 1-2 (with 1 being your favorite and 2 being your least favorite)

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

250: #1 frame; #2 hair turban; #3 mirror

500: #1 3 legged mirror; #2 black passport and luggage tag; #3 passport and lipstick holder.

I'm going to sound off on the passport/lipstick holder because this is such a bad idea.  No one has a passport that is as thick as lipstick.  The passport holder would never be able to close properly if the spine is made to accommodate a passport.  If the spine is made to accommodate a lipstick, than the passport is going to fall out.  Passport holders are bad enough as is since you always have to take it out of the  holder for TSA anyway.

750: # 1 apothecary jars ; #2 mirror

I'm hoping these are just examples and not the actual items you're looking at.  I would also like to take this opportunity to say: BRING BACK THE UMBRELLA.  There was a black and white striped umbrella you did for in store purchases back in November of 2015.  It was actually rad.  Functional and cute!  Nobody wants a pocket mirror.  Every blessed makeup compact I own comes with a mirror so why would I carry a plain old mirror?  and what good does the mirror do me if I can't stand it on a surface?

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

That umbrella would be a great comeback! @itscarin

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

@itscarin @Kim888  Yessss! I third the umbrella idea! My umbrellas break on me easily so I'm always on the look out for a good one! And if I recall correctly, the Sephora umbrellas from back then looked quite sturdy!

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

oooh an umbrella would be such a good reward @itscarin !

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

In all honesty, these potential rewards are not worth redeeming. Realistically these items are undesirable. 😞

As far as other alternatives, I’ll have to ponder on that and report back.

Thank you very much for allowing feedback.

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

These items look like the cheap tat you'd see in the Target dollar section. I wouldn't trade in hard earned points for something so dull. 750 points for an ugly, plastic mirror? Yea, I'll pass.

The point perks I generally go for are decent sized 100 point skincare items and 250 point fragrance mini's - I especially love these as they are often around the same size as a rollerball, so good value I feel. I would like to see percent-discount rewards. 250 points gets you 10 percent off, up to a maximum of $20 ... something along those lines.

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

None of these items really get me very excited to be honest. I agree with most posters below that a point system like Ulta has where you can use your points for money off. If Sephora is sticking with gifts however, I would love to see more makeup sample sets. I went to Sephora yesterday and EVERYTHING for points was skin care, I have a skincare routine I am happy with but would love to see more lipstick or eye shadow samples so I can try out new colors and look without having to buy. My dream though is to see money off my purchases with my points though. When the Urban Decay Born to Run pallet came out both Ulta and Sephora carried it but I bought it from Ulta because I had $15 in points to use.

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

Thank you for all of your efforts @TayBT and involving the community! Sadly I agree with everyone else on this. That being said, given the options above, the only item I would consider using some of my points on is the hair turban. Anyway, thanks for asking for our input and working to revamp the bazaar!

RE: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

Thank you for your work trying to revamp the rewards system @TayBT I know how hard it is to create a system that would please everyone. I agree with many of the responses here in that I’d rather be able to use my points on Beauty related items like product samples or a credit system like the one Ulta uses. I wouldn’t be excited to use points for any of these items because I can purchase things like this at target or other stores for very very cheap (probably ten bucks or less). I do like some of the current rewards offered but I think the main problem is that most of them go out of stock immediately thus making it a disappointment each time I see something I like it’s going to be gone anyway. It’s definitely going to be difficult to find things that everyone agrees on but it does seem to be a common thread that the majority of people do love the Ulta points system. Thank you for listening to us all!

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

@TayBT I hate to say it but here goes....

Those items at most cost Sephora $5 (Cost not retail). I'm a hard working woman who has higher end taste...I would have zero use for any of those items. If I had wanted them, I would buy them and not for $100 (100 points), $250 (250 points), $500 (500 points) etc. It feels like a distraction method - this isnt improving the rewards bazaar or listening to our feedback at all.

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

@GG84 LOL, 100% accurate and brutally honest!  I can only imagine what the team meetings are like on this subject.

Supervisor: Guys, we need to get people spending their points more.  What new items can we make that people will want to spend points on?

Direct Report: I've asked for feedback amongst our most active users, and they all hated the options we presented.  They want to be able to get money back like at Ulta, or have a discount.  Anything but the dollar store items.

Supervisor: But the VP of Marketing's son-in-law is a customs broker and our budget is only $1 per 100 points!

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

To be very frank, I wouldn't spend any of my points on any of those items. I shop at Sephora solely for the selection of makeup/skincare. So anything non-related, I have no interest in. I really like the mini fragrance bottles, I'm annoyed at myself for not getting the 500pt mini DG Light Blue Eau Intense. I also love the 500-750pt mini kits. I got the Drunk Elephant one, and ended-up purchasing full-size versions b/c I end-up loving the products.

Some products I'd absolutely spend my points on:

  1. Tatcha mini and/or kit
  2. Laneige mini and/or kit
  3. Biossance mini and/or kit
  4. Something like the Sephora Favorites kits

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

I’m in agreement with quite a few that none of these I would spend my points on, however, a few have potential for me to spend points if they were a bit different.

250 points:

-hair turban - I personally wouldn’t get one because of the material (old shirts are my best hair turban friend) but if this had like Sephora polka dots I could see it being a cute item people may want

500 points:

-passport holder luggage - is it super basic in the passport holder? Pass. If it had a cute pattern of makeup on the inside (only the inside like my little secret) I’d love it. If the luggage tag was more unique, like the sparkly lips we sometimes see, I’d be into it. If those changes were made I’d 100% get it.

750 points:

-neither interest me or could be varied to an interest at the point level

As others have said, you’ll never go wrong with gift cards for points.

p.s. Thanks for asking our opinions!

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

Been thinking about these types of items a bit... Sephora makes a nice, square mirror compact with a black faux leather cover, I think it's $10-12 US. I would love to get one of those from the Bazaar, or something similar.

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

Oh @TayBT. I’m sorry. I don’t want to sound nasty, but none of these options is making my heart sing. I prefer to see beauty accessories like this in person before I commit. As others have stated, I think gift cards or cash incentives would be very welcome.

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

250 points

1. Hair turban

2. Travel mirror

2. picture frame?

500 points (this is tough because I don't know if these are notebooks, wallets etc)

1. Black book

2. Pink book

3. Mirror

750 points

1. Cotton accessory container

2. Mirror

Edited to add: I would like to see anything for organization, like a lipstick holder, etc. I like things I would have an actual use for that isn't makeup.

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

For 250 points:

1. Hair turban

2. Mirror

3. Photo frame? (not quite sure what it is).

For 500 points:

1. Cute stand up mirror

2. Notebook (? again not 100% sure what it is)

3. Travel things

For 750 points:

1. Qtip/sponge/cotton holders

2. Mirror

Ideas for other rewards:   More gift cards, think 1000 points for $50, or even 500 points for $25.  I think jewelry rewards would be nice, maybe you can collab with a brand like bauble bar?  Workout accessories are fun such as head bands or even tops.  I like the idea of jewelry dishes or anything to display jewelry.  How about hair accessories? Think headbands, elastics, clips, etc.

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

I would get the 750-point countertop storage if they were ceramic, not plastic. I wouldn't redeem for any of the others.

My favorite bazaar item is actually a little polka-dot ceramic dish from last summer or fall... I think it was only 250 points. For high-ticket items, I got a Month of Masks box and really loved that. The Jo Malone or Hourglass ones are probably all I would try to nab in the future.

Edit: for what it's worth, some of the Canadian bazaar items have seemed more interesting, like purses or pro MUA sessions.

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

For the three items for 250 points I would probably only get the hair turban, the other two would not interested me. For the 500-750 point items I would want something to go with them? But too much points for those items on there own I think. I personally would like to see the gift  card option come back again and I know that the more interesting rewards have been actually products that I want to get like the Too face Peach palette that was available one time and the Hourglass palette.  Hopefully this helps @TayBT

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

While all of these are kinda cool (at least different) I would never spend my points on them TBH. So I don't think I should vote. All I want is to be able to buy whatever product I want at Sephora using my points. That's my suggestion. I sound like a broken record but I don't care. I would love it if Sephora had a point system in place like SDM or Ulta.

Re: Feedback Wanted: 250, 500, and 750 Point Rewards

Same here, @veronika23. I mainly just want dollar credits to spend on buying new products that interest me, @TayBT

However, I must say that two of the nicest and useful items I own are a white backpack I got from a 1000-point Benefit reward, and a black Sephora-branded tote I got for 250 points. I use both all the time because they’re super-sturdy, great sizes, and cute. I sure hope Sephora offers that tote again. I’d love to get more.
