Wrinkles

I read in a magazine once that the best time to start using wrinkle cream is in your 20s and I just turned 20 a couple of months ago. I want to start now because my siblings have deep wrinkles(mainly in the forehead) & they're in their late 20s. But I already have acne & I've been reading articles about how it can make it worse. I have combination skin that is usually oily with a few dry patches but has been dryer than usual because I recently started the mary kay acne treatment. Is there anything I can use that won't make matters worse?

Re: Wrinkles

I am a firm believer in using "powerful" and "effective" serums to keep wrinkles and fine lines from appearing in your years to come.

Drunk Elephant's: C-Firma (Vitamin C is SO important for your skin to intake on a daily!!!!).

The Ordinary:  Granactive Retinoid* 2% Emulsion and Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%.

Including these wonderful serums listed above into your daily routine along with a moisturizer that works well for your skin type will help you accomplish your goals. I am 25 years old as well and have used these products for the past 2 years after being recommended by my Aesthetician. In addition to these topical products if you can throw in a yearly micro needling treatment and a quarterly facial peel you will never have to worry about your skin again!  If you are worried about facial peels, Sephora sales two amazing products to help solve this solution.

Dr. Dennis Gross Skin Care: Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel and Biossance Squalane/Glycolic Renewal Facial. I hope this helps answer your question (:

Re: Wrinkles

Retin A... see a dermatologist and get prescribed (for acne and wrinkles... most people think I'm 30 (I'm 51) due to retin A) ..... then, do your research on glycolic acids.... I'm dry skin so my research will do you no good.  Retinols will dry you out and flake your skin and the glycolic acid will remove the dead skin so it's a one day this, the next day that type of thing.  I'm testing out new glycolic acids but for daily routine moisturizers, I'm loving the IT cosmetics bye bye under eye (was a free sample recently) and secret sauce... it has made my wrinkles disappear so I can imagine how well kept you will be in your 20's using this 😉

Re: Wrinkles

Wow you're 51 and look 30? I need to try retin a. I use the bye bye under eye concealer to cover acne(don't like thick concealers under my eyes) but didn't know they had eye cream too until I just googled it. Good to know. Need to try secret sauce too. Thank you for sharing your secrets 😊

you would benefit greatly from the Ordinary Matrixyl+HA. Matrixyl is a blend of peptides which stimulates collagen - more collagen = less wrinkles. hyaluronic acid works synergistically with peptides to provide instant plumping (you don't need this yet, but it's non-comedogenic/won't break you out). do NOT make the mistake of using heavy creams. most anti-aging creams are formulated for more mature individuals and do not take breakouts into consideration. if you want more of a splurge, Drunk Elephant's Marula oil is not only non-comedogenic, but it will also keep your skin looking young (you can sub this out for the Ordinary Rosehip oil if you want to keep the price low, but honestly DE's Marula is a tad bit better). I personally would recommend buying the serum and one of these oils and making this your night routine. serum first, follow with oil. you'll reap the benefits in your late 20s! *-be careful with oil. some prevent acne, some cause it. both Marula and rosehip actually *prevent* acne.

Thank you, yes definitely don't want more acne after finally getting my face to clear up some. I will look into these 😊

RE: Wrinkles

Get a sample or 2 of the UFO mask by Sunday Riley. It is the best acne mask I've ever used. It doesn't create dry patches from drying out the acne. I would get that under control first then introduce age prevention products! I agree with others sunscreen! It does wonders, but also using retinol can help. Introducing one product with it can make a huge difference! I like Murad's Youth Renewal line. They have a couple different products that you can decide if you want serum or moisturizer. It isn't cheap but they are a start of age prevention. I hope this helps! ❤️

Re: RE: Wrinkles

I will definitely have to try this. I hate the way acne products dry out my skin. I have to use a daily exfoliating scrub in the dry parts. & yeah I try to stay out of the sun too long & put sunscreen on when I do. I think tanning is one of the main things that caused one of my sister's premature wrinkles. Will look into the murad line too. Thanks for the help 😊

retinol is good but absolutely and 100% make sure you wear sunscreen consistently with it. retinol increases your sensitivity to the sun. if you usually burn in 2 hours, retinol will speed that up to 20 minutes (I ended up with a sunburn from walking to my car the ONE DAY I forgot sunscreen)

Wow noted, thank you. That's crazy

RE: Wrinkles

Yes sunscreen is the most important!! i use a really great vitamin c serum that has identical ingredients to Skin Ceuticals CE Ferulic with not even 1/4 the price tag. This extends the ability of the spf ... at night I alternate between drunk elephant TLC and skinmedica retinol 1.0 [not for beginners] A good anti aging system doesn't use just one thing... spf is a must and... retinol... aha and bha.... vitamin c.... niacinamide ... exfoliating if you have oily skin

Re: RE: Wrinkles

I've actually been looking into vitamin c serum because I've read that it can help with hyperpigmentation(mine is caused by acne). Good to know that it helps with wrinkle prevention too. Going to look into the other things you listed too. Thank you! 😊

RE: Wrinkles

Is it the Timeless one?

Re: Wrinkles

Always use sunscreens, because that's where a lot of skin problems start is with sun damage.  If you have oily or combination skin, a line that is good (instead of mary kay, which made my oily skin worse) is proactive or murad.  There's also several products with Paula's Choice that are oil free, but will give you moisturization that doesn't break you out. If you start now with a good skin regime, you may be able to stop familial trends.  Try mineral (true Mineral) foundations, like Bare Mineral original foundation, that do not clog your pores.  Remember, don't overdo on drying out your skin, because dry skin actually produces more oil, and dry skin will wrinkle easier!

Re: Wrinkles

Yes sunscreen is definitely my friend and I think tanning is what caused my sister's premature wrinkles. My mom & grandmother have always been against being in the sun for too long & don't have many wrinkles for their age so I'm hoping that means I actually have good genes. The mary kay has actually helped the oil but it is making my skin very dry and it's starting to get hard to manage. I'll have to look into murad. I used to use proactiv but it stopped working and my skin got really bad. Will also look into paula's choice. & didn't know that bare minerals doesn't clog your pores. I've been looking for a foundation & may have to try it. Thanks so much 😊

Re: Wrinkles

*Completely second the sunscreen.* A product to prevent the wrinkles is a lot better than trying to get rid of them with retinols, etc., after the fact. For the OP - You really shouldn't use any kind of retinol or acid (AHAs, BHA, etc.) without daily sunscreen anyway - you're making your skin more susceptible to burns, wrinkles, cancer from UVB & UVA rays by using those products. Even though they are good for your skin, you still have to protect your skin while using them. The best sunscreens, IMO, are the ones from Europe and from Asia. The LaRoche-Posay ones are pretty good, and there's a Japanese one by Biore that I like (it smells nice and citrus-y). I wish I'd started using daily sunscreen in my 20s instead of figuring this out in my 30s.

Re: Wrinkles

I can't heart this post enough. SUNSCREEN SUNSCREEN SUNSCREEN. Especially if you're going to use actives. And a good moisturizer. If you're using products that dry out your skin, you really need to be replenishing that hydration by adding in serums, creams, or oils that can help keep your moisture barrier healthy. Caudalie, Belif, Philosophy, and Ole Henriksen all make some great moisturizers to help with this.

Re: Wrinkles

Yep sunscreen!  Supergoop has some amazing no scent products for the face.... quite in love with their spray for the face that is microfine and keeps you hydrated (dries fast, doesn't mess up the makeup.), as well as their cheek and lip color which on pale skin is a great replacement for blush and has SPF....   (their hand product smells strong though 😞 so keep that in mind).

Re: Wrinkles

I agree that LaRoche-Posay is another great moisterizer with great sunscreen.
