Wind Burn Skin

I’m constantly in/out of my car, sometimes walking  10 km between appointments and today it was rather cold 🇨🇦 and windy and I of course, didn’t have a scarf to pull over my face. The wind physically hurt my skin. Upon removing my make up it looks like I have a massive sun burn on my face. Anyone know how to minimize this? Treat the same as a sun burn?

RE: Wind Burn Skin

I have the exact same skin condition (rosacea). I live in SF, the weather is always freezing to death and my face looks Like a BLODDY NIGHTMARE with the wind. ALYWAYS have a scarf covering your face and wear a very thick cream. I use the YTTP Adaptogen Cream.

Re: Wind Burn Skin

Ugh, that sounds painful, but I hope you're doing better now @GG84 ! Yup, treat it the same as a sun burn. Keep it moisturized with a hydrating/soothing serum then locking it in with a moisturizer and/or occlusive. If it feels hot, a cold damp towel over the face for several minutes helps too.

RE: Wind Burn Skin

You can use any aloe gel, because it helps soothing and is super hydrating. Another option that you can combine is tamanu oil, as it helps wounds heal faster, stimulate the production of collagen and reduces inflammation....it’s considered a dry oil, so you won’t get super oily if you use it during the evening.

Re: Wind Burn Skin

@GG84   Ouch! Have you ever tried Consonant HydrExtreme? I've used it on different skin problems...  and it's a staple in my routine. It's expensive but it works. It's not heavy at all, more of a watery serum so you can wear it under your makeup too. Sephora seems to only carry the larger bottle... so I suggest checking with their website or well.ca.  Maybe even email them see if they'll send you a sample. I think I've heard them doing that before.  They also have a sheet mask that is based on the serum but in my opinion it's not really worth the money compared to the serum. Hope you can find something that works!

@veronika23

I found the Consonant on Well dot ca in set with moisturizer and some other product so I ordered that!! It sounds really great, I’ve never paid attention to this brand before, it looks promising. Thanks V!!  Hopefully they don’t deliver to my house at 1 am again 🤣

Re: Wind Burn Skin

@GG84  awesome! I hope it works for you. You really don't need much and can even mix in a few drops with your moisturizer if you don't want to apply it directly to your skin (basically saving a "step"). This is a must have for me, especially in winter. Let me know how it works out for you.  OMG? WHAT? 1 AM!!!!  Who does that???? Geeez!

I totally forgot to mention that the REN Evercalm Rescue Mask is also another fav of mine when my skin is irritated. I also use it after facial hair removal and it seems to help with my skin getting back to normal as it HATES when I wax. 😄  The overnight balm from the same line is great too. I only had samples but really loved it and definitely want to purchase it when I'm done going through all my stuff.

Re: Wind Burn Skin

@GG84  I don't know how realistic this is for you, but 100% cocoa butter is the only thing that ever helped windburn for me. I used to have a 30 minute walk home from school everyday, even in the winter, and cocoa butter was the only thing that prevented it. And when I say 100% I mean a stick of actual cocoa butter, like this:

The only thing is, I didn't wear makeup back then. That's why I say I don't know how realistic it is. I hope you get some relief soon 🙂

@suzyo

I’m going to pick up a few things tomorrow to slather on over the weekend. I don’t wear make up on weekends but for work it’s a must. My face is nuts right now, my foundation didn’t cover at all. It looks like I wore sunglasses and got a sunburn. My cheeks, nose, chin and forehead are so so red but my eyes are fine (thank you glasses). I’ll look for the Queen Helene and pick up some Cerave.

Re: Wind Burn Skin

That sucks, sorry that happened to you! I think aloe vera would help too. I would use Caudalie Grape Water of course since that is my go-to for skin abrasions and discomforts of any kind.

I can think of one tip, make sure you doublecheck any moisturizer you use on it for any AHA's or exfoliants. Ouch! @GG84

Re: Wind Burn Skin

@gingerleigh

Oh boy. My solution to everything is “chemical exfoliate!” 😐 before I figured out what it was, I panicked and thought my face was oddly breaking out. I AHA’d. It made it so much worse 😭

Re: Wind Burn Skin

Aww, @GG84  I have been there with the wrong time to exfoliate and it truly hurts.

Re: Wind Burn Skin

Oh no @GG84!! I would treat it the same as a sunburn - aloe vera. FARMACY - Honey Savior All-in-One Skin Repair Salve might also be beneficial. I'm so sorry your skin hurts; hope it heals quickly.

@itsfi
Thanks, I’m all out but going to pick some up. And a scarf lol
