Vitamin C!!

I’m looking to incorporate a vitamin c serum into my skincare routine. I have tried DE and Tatcha and I do enjoy those, but only want to splurge on one since the shelf life for Vitamin C serums are so short. What vitamin c serums would y’all recommend?

Vitamin C!!

Olehenriksen Truth Serum! Love that Vitamin C line.

RE: Vitamin C!!

I always found the DE way too sticky. I second the vote for SR CEO.

Re: Vitamin C!!

@Brittany815 I just read a good review on beautypedia for  The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone 1 oz/ 30 mL

and I thought of this post.  I'm curious what BICers think of it.

Re: Vitamin C!!

@Brittany815 I've been using the biossance oil but as we move in to summer it's really only going to work for me at night, as an oil formula just sits on my skin when it's humid and/or warm out. So I recommend it- it absorbs and it's lovely and gives a slight warm tingle to my skin- but probably only for winter if your skin is at all oily.

I love the lightweight formula of the Tatcha, and that's what I will probably be getting next spring/summer, but I've also been looking to try the Volition strawberry-C at a serious cost savings. I don't want to but either right now since I just got the biossance and I don't want it to oxidize

Re: Vitamin C!!

@Brittany815 I love the DE and Tatcha one.

Re: Vitamin C!!

Try the Glow Maker from Maelove. I have tried the Drunk Elephant and the Skinceuticals and it has the same effect but is $28. Check out the reviews on it. You won't be disappointed.

@Brittany815

It's not at Sephora, but I highly recommend Exuviance AF Vitamin C20 Serum Capsules. As the name suggests, it's packaged in individual capsules, so there's very little worry about oxidation and your product stays fresh. I also find the capsules to contain more than I need for one application, so it's easy to get two uses from each one, stretching a bottle from a two month supply to four. It contains vitamin E already, but I add a few drops of a ferulic acid serum as well, and voila, Skinceuticals for a fraction of the price 😁

Re: Vitamin C!!

@Brittany815 I really enjoy the Ole Truth Serum, and it's a bit more affordable than some other Vit C serums. The regular 1 oz. size is less than $50, and it lasts long enough so you don't feel like you're splurging too much but not so long it goes bad.

Re: Vitamin C!!

At Sephora, my favorite is definitely C-Firma, @Brittany815. But...if you’re willing to splurge, I most definitely recommend Skinceuticals C E Ferulic. It has Vitamin C along with Ferulic Acid that will give you added protection against environmental aggressors. I usually switch between the two and love the results they give.

RE: Re: Vitamin C!!

How much longer do your vit c serums last when you store them in a makeup fridge? I’m totally willing to invest in one if helps some of my more expensive serums last a little longer.

Re: RE: Re: Vitamin C!!

I don’t necessarily think it lasts longer, @Brittany815 , but I do feel they hold its potency longer when stored in a fridge, if that makes sense. I always use it within the recommended 6 months. I just switch between Drunk Elephant and Skinceuticals so my skin doesn’t become to accustomed to one product.

Re: Vitamin C!!

@darlyndar  Do you think (or came across something in your research) packaging of the "Skinceuticals C E Ferulic" is OK? I hesitate buying such an expensive product taht too Vit C in a dropper bottle as I am not sure if it will maintain efficacy after opening.

Re: Vitamin C!!

I’ve never had issues with it as long as I use it within the recommended 6 months, @naturalooks15. But, I also keep my serums in a MakeupFridge. I don’t know if that makes a difference, but even with C-Firma, I never have issues with it turning a darker orange when it’s kept in a fridge. I’m actually curious now so I’ll definitely look into it.

Re: Vitamin C!!

@Brittany815 I love DE and Tatcha.  If I had to pick one I would pick DE.

Re: Vitamin C!!

@Brittany815 I’ve only been using it for a week but so far I am really liking

VOLITION BEAUTY - Strawberry-C Brightening Serum.

I was using DE C-firma and wanted to find a cheaper alternative because of the oxidation issue.

Re: Vitamin C!!

@faeriegirl  I wish DE would make the 15 ml Vit C a permanent product. For now I have resorted to buying the small travel pack (rise & glow) every month or couple of months so I keep getting those little B-Hydras as well 🙂

RE: Re: Vitamin C!!

I agree! I do love the DE but had issues with it oxidizing before I can finish it. I read somewhere that it still is effective when it oxidized, but I can’t stand the consistency once it gets thick then I feel like I am wasting like $30 of product. A 15ml bottle would be SO much better.

Re: Vitamin C!!

Me too @naturalooks15! The 15 ml would be so much better. I opened a mini on vacation in mid February and when I checked it in early April it had oxidized badly so I don’t want to do the minis. Hopefully the Volition continues to work🤞

Re: Vitamin C!!

Would love to hear your thoughts @faeriegirl  on how Volition is in comparison to C-Firma. I also was reading somewhere that you can buy powder of L-Ascorbic acid and mix in your serum as that is much more stable. I'll be researching it bit more.
