Tips for teen skin care

Hi!!

I am a teenager, and my mom thinks that I should start a skincare routine...but I don't quite know how to start.

I have a few blackheads, but I've never had acne (neither of my parents had acne as a teenager, so I'm not sure if I will get it.) I am in puberty, and sometimes I get rashes on my face. I would also preferably want to use products that are not too expensive.

Any tips on what products to use, and like what order to use them in? (Like a face cleanser, then a moisturizer, etc.) Would be incredibly appreciated!! Thank you all so much!

Hi @FullCoverageBB ! I'm also a teenager and I'd love to help! ❤️

I'd suggest Cerave and The Inkey List. Their products are affordable and simple. For me, the Proactiv Blackhead Dissolving Gel 1 oz/ 30 mL was the only thing that cleared my blackheads, so I'd also suggest that even though it's more on the expensive side.

I would recommend the Cerave foaming cleanser or The INKEY List Oat Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm 5 oz/ 150 mL  .

The INKEY List Niacinamide Oil Control Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL  is awesome and helps with skin texture and tone. It also helps reduce sensitivity!

I really love SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Hydrator - Hydrate & Glow 1.69oz/ 50mL for an every day moisturizer. It has Hyaluronic Acid which draws moisture from the air to your skin! 💧

You want to use sunscreen every single day (even indoors!). It helps prevent so many common and long term skin concerns, as well as protecting your skin from skin cancer. The Cerave SPF is great!

I really hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions. I love that you're starting a skincare routine, it's so fun! Always remember that you're beautiful no matter what ❤️

Re: Tips for teen skin care

Seconding Niacinimide as a great thing for oil control! It turned my oily skin to a much more normal type and helped my intermittent acne and blackheads like nothing else ever did.

Also congrats on starting a skincare routine in your teens! I didn't take it seriously until I was in my late 20's. Your three keystones are always going to be: cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Remember too that you need to apply 1/4 tsp of sunscreen to just your face in order to get the listed SPF from it. I use a glass pump bottle that I know takes 5 pumps to be 1/4 tsp and I put all my sunscreens in it to be sure I'm getting the protection I need. I also go for spf 60 products so that even if half of it comes off (as it does after about 2-3 hours) I'm at spf 30.

@FullCoverageBB When I was a teenager all I used was a toner, face wash and moisturizer.  You also need spf.
