Textured skin!

Hi! I have textured skin that’s just progressively getting worse 😕 I was wondering if any of you have any masks, moisturizers, etc. that you think would help me out! Thank you in advance

RE: Textured skin!

Hi, I have similar issues and have noticed a huge difference/ feel like these products don’t make it worse: Thayers - Toner First Aid Beauty - Cleanser First Aid Beauty - Ultra Facial Cream Peter Thomas Roth - Max Complexion pads Peter Thomas Roth - Sulfur Mask And the most important/ favorite one: Sunday Riley - Good Genes! The Ordinary - ABA BHA solution Xx

Re: Textured skin!

If you’ve always had texture and it appears to be worsening it may be due to collagen loss in your skin which will cause your pores to appear to be deepening over time.   You may want to consider a multi angled approach by using a chemical exfoliant such as lactic acid to smooth the skins surface but also using a retinol at night  and vitamin c serum in the mornings for boosting collagen production and plumping your skin overtime.    Hyaluronic acid will help plump your skin and keep it hydrated and in doing so will help minimize the appearance of pores.
i also can’t stress enough the importance of wearing sunscreen even indoors when using acids and retinol on your face.

Re: Textured skin!

Hi Monique! Chemical exfoliting is the key, at least it has been for me. Better than the physical even. I only use the physical one twice a week, I made it myself with powder matcha tea mixed with a gentle liquid face soap and a splash of micellar water. For the chemical one I like Beautycounter, Drunk Elephant and even the cheaper version: Pixi Glycolic Toner, follow the chemical or physical exfoliation always with a Ph balancer toner and if possible with an essence and then moisturizer and oil for the night and during the day NEVER forget the SPF, minimum 45.

Hi ! I have this kind of skin too ! I use all the green tatcha product ! It save my skin ! I do a lot of acne/pore too ! First i remove my make up and after i use the deep cleanse. 3-4 time a week i use the the rice polish the green ! I use the water cream Of tatcha as well ! (Sorry english is not my first language)

@MoniqueCSanchez

try looking into exfoliating products - chemical is better than physical. The texture could be due to a build-up of dead skin cells, exfoliating might help - just don't use any aggressive products or overdo it. 😉 Moisturize well & use an SPF.  Vitamin C products might be helpful as well. 😉

Textured skin!

Honestly I got the fix! No need to get all expensive in this crisis economy. My go to: St.Ives Mandarin Grapefruit Scrub is re-formulated and gentle for everyday use until your skin texture evens out. Exfoliating is key to smooth skin. Also a serum or toner after you wash/scrub your face is important. I prefer a toner with Alpha Hydroxy. I like Fresh Rosewater Hydraulic Toner or Thayers Rosewater/Witchhazel with aloe. There are also these new ones out that are 7-10$ bucks but have excellent 5-star reviews... Itsy? In the black n white plain bottles on Sephora App. I just bought the Caffeine eyecream and night serum combo by them. Make sure to finish with First Aid Cream moisturizer or a good skin lotion of your choice along with a spritz of rosewater spray daily. Your skin will smooth n even out trust me. Even my 18 year old son with acne called to thank me for curing his face break outs. He had NEVER asked me for a skin routine before and it worked amazing on him. Mom was a licensed cosmetologist for 20 years...I know my beauty products. Hope you give it a try!🤗

I e been in the beauty industry one way or another for at least 30 years ,so neddless to say I know a thing or 2 ,but being 50 going through menapause having many ailments and a fairly high stress life plus I'm a smoker has done a number on my face ...dont get me wrong my skin is really not in that bad of shape i basically has the usual aging skin problems minus acne...my undereye wrinkles and med size pours are my top 2 issues i use very good skin care and I'm extremely deactivated but what i wanted to ask anyone about is under my eyes and a bit further down on both side a have this creepy texture spot that drives me crazy i have tried alot of things alot of ways but I'm missing something ..any ideas??????

Re: I e been in the beauty industry one way or another for at...

@lisabrooksy  If you’re using everything, vitmain c and niacinamide combined with sunscreen in the daytime and then regular at home peels and trentinoin at night as well as a facial oil under your eyes, and you’re still not seeing the results you’d like, you may want to try something a little more intense like laser treatments, or a deep medical grade peel to help stimulate collagen production and renew the skin in that area.  Not exactly possible with the state the world is in right now but it may be something worth researching.

Re: Textured skin!

@seventyone   While I agree exfoliating is key, apricot scrubs are terrible for your skin.  They use the pits which are crushed up as the exfoliant,  there is no way to crush the pits to make the pieces smooth so their jagged edges exfoliate but also cause micro tears in the fresh tender skin underneath.  They cause damage and micro scarring to your skin that shows up after years of use, so you may have seemingly smooth skin now but in the long term they’re one of the worst exfoliating methods.
The Ordinary is a excellent brand for affordable no frills skincare if you’re on a tight budget.

A chemical exfoliate containing lactic acid, fruit enzymes or glycolic acid (depending on your skin type) is the most gentle and effective method to remove dead skin cells without harming the fresh skin underneath.

Re: Textured skin!

I agree @heartsmyface .  My dermatologist knows I'm a skincare junkie and has always made sure that I stay away from St. Ives because of how harsh that scrub is on your skin.

she mentioned the grapefruit scrub.. I used to use the apricot one when I was a teenager.. but the grapefruit one is formulated different. not harsh at all. neutrogena has a similar cheap option and it smells so good sometimes I pick it up over my high end stuff

Re: Textured skin!

Actually as a licensed cosmetologist I can tell you that your information is only partly correct. St.Ives re-formulated the Apricot Scrub after some bad press on those "micro-tears" a few years ago which really were no more than re-surfacing of the epidural layer (the one that is removed easily and readily with daily face washing anyway with soap). In addition to refining the St.Ives product to make it more of powder consistency (grinding up more of the walnut shells basically). More Apricot seed oil was added to give it a creamier consistency to the new formula as well. But hey, if you have consulted a dermatologist and/or esthetician as I have and still came to the conclusion that that scrub isn't for you, then it's not for you. I however, stand by it as a brand and as an actual skincare professional. I actually research my favorite products thoroughly not just internet surfing to get some plagiarized content from a few base websites. I'm just sayin....

Re: Textured skin!

@GG84 These are one of my favorites!  They’re strong so i switch between using the ddg ones and the fab beauty ones depending on what other exfoliants are being used.

Re: Textured skin!

@heartsmyface

I use them daily the only peel I’ve come across (OTC) that I can’t tolerate has been LANCER SKINCARE - Caviar Lime Acid Peel. It took me a while to recover from that lol
