Tatcha violet c serum and drunk elephant tlc framboos glycolic resurfacing night serum

I have both serums and they both are supposed to be used at night. I’m wondering if it would be too harsh or maybe the two would cancel out if I did or what? Should I try layering or maybe do every other day/week? I have oily acne prone skin with a few dark marks, so im really excited to see if these products work. Any advice would really help ya girl out šŸ™‚

I would use c serum in the mornings and DE at night. Be sure to wear a sunscreen daily.

As usual, @WinglessOne is spot on here. That would be a lot of AHA’s to put on your face at once.

If you want the benefit of a Vitamin C serum, have you considered using a C serum (without AHA’s) to use during the day? I have had great success using DE’s C-Firma during the day, and then using Framboos in the evening. That way your skin gets the best of both worlds, without overdoing the acids that could irritate your skin.

Re: Tatcha violet c serum and drunk elephant tlc framboos glycolic resurfacing night serum

@TayRob  Tatcha Violet C Serum contains 10% AHA. DE Framboos is an AHA serum (also contains BHA). I don’t know how strong Framboos is since DE doesn’t list the AHA %, but I wouldn’t layer it with the Tatcha vitamin C+AHA serum unless my skin was already used to a high % of AHA. I know Tatcha says the AHA in Violet C is gentle and fruit-derived, but without knowing the Framboos percentage—and especially if you’ve never used an AHA exfoliant before—I’d use these 2 products separately, at least until my skin was tolerating them used on separate days. Maybe Framboos is 10-20% AHA; layering it with Violet C would be a potentially powerful 30% AHA experience for your skin to handle.

If you’re new to AHA, I recommend introducing one of these products gradually to your skin: pick one and use it just 1-2 times a week for a couple of weeks. You could also patch test it first to really be on the safe side, if your skin’s finicky like mine or extremely sensitive. If your skin tolerates the AHA well, ramp up usage to more times a week.

Also, there’s no reason why you can’t use Violet C in the morning instead of night. šŸ™‚ Just make sure you also use sunscreen (which we should all do daily anyway). Or you could use Framboos in the morning if you really wanted to. I do my AHA exfoliation at night (I use FAB’s 10% AHA serum 2-3 times a week) and vitamin C in the morning (currently using YTTP’s vitamin C serum). Some folks do their chemical exfoliation in the morning; others use vitamin C only at night. It all depends on the rest of your skincare routine, your skin’s tolerance of all those ingredients, and your personal preference.

@TayRob @WinglessOne I read on beautypedia that DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboosā„¢ Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum

is 12%.  I wonder if anyone has any info confirming this.  I went to the DE site, but while it listed the pH, it didn't list the concentration of AHA.

Re: Tatcha violet c serum and drunk elephant tlc framboos glycolic resurfacing night serum

@greeneyedgirl107  the info on Sephora's website lists a 12% AHA blend with 1% BHA in the Framboos serum. I definitely think it's redundant to use both the Framboos and Violet C and it could be too irritating as well

Thanks for the info @snoflakefaerie

Re: Tatcha violet c serum and drunk elephant tlc framboos glycolic resurfacing night serum

Totally agree. 30% AHA’s would be fine, were it a mask a person would use as a mask for 20 minutes of so. I think that if I put 30% on my face overnight, I’d wake up with a beet red, itchy face.

Re: Tatcha violet c serum and drunk elephant tlc framboos glycolic resurfacing night serum

@TayRob   One isn’t going to cancel the other out so no worries there.   One is an exfoliator the other is a brightener/skin fader.  I would exfoliate first and then use the vitamin c on the fresh skin for maximum effectiveness.

Some people find vitamin c to be harsh on their skin but I haven’t ever experienced issues with it.  I would start off exfoliating every few days and then try upping it to every day after a few weeks if you’re initially concerned about it’s strength.
