Tacha water cream vs the Tacha silk cream .. whats the difference?

I currently us the water cream and love it ... besides the $60 price difference .. what is the difference or are there any benefits of using the silk cream instead of the water cream?

I have skin on the dry side, but not overly dry.  The water cream is nice going on but within 30 minutes my skin is thirsty.  I now would only use it as a quick moisture pick up before make up application since it sinks in fast.

The silk cream is thicker and it really works so much better for my skin.  I would say my skin is dry to normal.  I love the silk cream - is goes on nicely absorbs well and leaves my skin nourished.  I like it better than LaMer to be honest.

Water cream- light

Silk cream- more moisture and gives more a lasting plump finish.

Bottom line, I repurchased the silk cream, didn't repurchase the water cream.

The water cream contains dimethicone, which is usually a deal-breaker for me, but this is actually my most favorite moisturizer of all time.  The Silk Cream, while lovely in texture, was too heavy for my combo-ish skin, and I wound up breaking out after trying to use it (this was before Water Cream was even available).  I'm pretty sure the Silk Cream contains oil, whereas the Water Cream does not.

Look at tatcha website. It explains better. If you select “combo normal skin”, it will give you water cream suggestion, if you select “dry skin”, it will give you silk cream suggestion. So I am assuming silk cream is more for dry skin and water cream is for normal/combo skin. If you have a sephora nearby or jcp sephora, ask for free samples for both, that way you can try them home and see how your skin responds to them

Tatcha water cream is definitely better if you have combination or oily skin. I have severely dry skin and I feel as though it's not enough for me.

Hi @mmf24!

I haven't used the Silk Cream but I do know that one major difference is that the Silk Cream doesn't contain any dimethicone.  If staying away from silicones matters to you, then this would be a huge win for the Silk Cream vs. the Water Cream.

I hope you find this helpful!

Dimethicone is the reason I couldn't stand the Water Cream 😞 my skin hated it
