Skincare911 foreo Luna play destroying my face!!!!!!

Send help! A friend bought me the foreo Luna play plus as a gift to help keep my skin beautiful before my wedding. I have dry kinda sensitive acne prone skin. Before I started using this product I was really in a good place and was really only getting the odd pimple or two with my period. Like very normal and controlled acne in a really good place with my skin. Then I started using this gift and I am having all kinds of serve acne! Like issues I have never had before! My pores are bigger on my cheeks and super clogged I’m getting neck pimples pimples on my cheeks close to my ears that are almost like scars, a super enlarged random pore! Scars on my forehead! She said it was normal to get some pimples from it cleansing but this is not okayIhve emptied my concealer bottle completely from using this!!!!! Send help what do I do!?!?! Any advice to help save my skin 😭😭 and none of this breakouts are normal or characteristic of my skin even when my acne was worse! Any advice you can give me to help my skin heal and reverse the damage or anything else! Even when I wear makeup there are rough patches on my face my makeup can not hide all this!

@LeeLa29 what exact cleanser were you using with the foreo? How often were you using the device?

You mentioned using Kate products, some of there cleansers are exfoliators, which wouldn't be used with the foreo..too abrasive.

Dermatologists can be hard to get appointments, make the call now. Could be an allergic reaction too, other things can look like acne.

It's not unusual for products that once worked to backfire later, the skin changes, environment conditions change etc.

Did you introduce any new products at the same time? 

If you haven’t already stopped using it, you should consider it and go back to the routine that you were satisfied with. Not everyone’s skin can tolerate cleansing devices.

Thank you for answering! The products I am using are all Kate Somerville cleansers, exfoliates and Alloettes cleansing oil which I’ve been using since I was like 15! And I’ve been using Kate Somerville products on and off for a long time. Do you think the Luna alone did this to my skin because I can’t tolerate it? And I’m hoping to get my skin at bay by discounting use of the foreo and going back to my routine before I go to the doctors.

If you are using exfoliating cleansers with the foreo, definitely could be causing the issues. You can definitely exfoliate too much and when the skin barrier is compromised it lets in all sorts of bacteria which can lead to breakouts, infection and inflammation. Until you can get to a doctor, I would lay off all physical exfoliation and try to let your skin heal a bit. If you don’t have a ton of redness and irritation aside from the breakouts, occasional chemical exfoliation (BHA/salicylic) might be ok. But seriously, you should seriously consider seeing a dermatologist, physician assistant or esthetician that works in a medical setting as soon as you can, especially if your wedding is soon.

Hi, I'm an esthetician. I'm not sure why a cleansing tool would break you out that badly unless it's exfoliating you more deeply than your skin is used to. As another has said, I would go to a dermatologist since your wedding is coming up but I would do it ASAP because you won't know what kind of reaction your skin will have to whatever products they prescribe. I think the fastest way will be to ask your dermatologist about a prescription retinoid.

Thank you for answering. Is it possible deep exfoliating can break you out? I would’ve thought it would be the opposite and cleanse you more ..

I think you’ll get faster results if you get prescription products from a dermatologist.

If you still have plenty of time before your wedding, I think retinoids and lactic acid products saved my skin. But, it took probably 6 months to see results so I would not start those right before your wedding.

Thank you! I’m hoping to get my skin back to normal by going back to my routine and using more healing products but if that doesn’t work I will go see my doc. I still have time before my wedding it is next year but I’m just afraid if my skin will get worse or is this damage is permanent
