Skincare routine question, essence/ serum?

Hello! I recently went shopping for new skincare products and I want to know if I can mix certain products together. For starters my nighttime routine will be consisting of Freshโ€™s strawberry cleanser, indie lee coq toner, Freshโ€™s black tea age delay which the sales lady at Sephora said was an โ€œessenceโ€ but the label says serum, then I wanted to used Kiehlโ€™s Midnight recovery, then Kiehls eyetreatment and then Freshโ€™s youth preserve dream cream. I would like to know if these products will be okay to mix and if theyโ€™ll work together. I also wanted to know if i can used both Freshโ€™s black tea age delay serum(essence) and Kiehls midnight recovery right after the other. Thank you!

As exciting as new products can be, I would be cautious of changing (adding/subtracting) too many parts of your routine all at once. Drastically changing your entire routine can send your skin into a fit and once you uproot all products itโ€™s difficult to figure out which one(s) arenโ€™t agreeing with your skin. Give each product a couple weeks to adjust. Whenever trying something new I always try to take it slow to know which products are beneficial or donโ€™t cooperate with another product ... for me. I say โ€œfor meโ€ because while some things are chemistry others are just personal to your skin type/allergies/etc.

The oil (night recovery) might be better than the cream(fresh) last. Also, rule of thumb is thinnest to thickest for skincare. If any of what your using has silicones it can cause products to pill. Good luck and how exciting to start all those products.

Re: Skincare routine question, essence/ serum?

Depends on your skin type ๐Ÿ™‚ so all products are either oil based or water based. Oil based cleaners and too much oil is not good for acne prone skin actually. I swear by Cosrx snail mucin and the ordinary serum. I really like ole henrikssen toner Dermalogica  and also witch hazel as a toner on others. Also really like kbeauty serums and essences ๐Ÿ™‚

Oil cleansers and other oil-based products can actually do wonders for oily skin, @20dermagirlll22.

@AnaJ89 Your items should be fine working together, just listen to your skin and watch to see how it reacts.

Yss thatโ€™s true but if she has acne prone skin she should stay away from ones with oil

Re: Skincare routine question, essence/ serum?

Generally speaking, oil-based products can also work really well for acne-prone skin. It all depends on what her specific triggers may be. Oil cleansing in particular is great for helping to keep pores cleaned out and lessening the likelihood of clogs and pimples. Facial oils like rosehip or those that contain tea tree (etc) are also amazing at helping to combat and heal acne. @20dermagirlll22
