Shelf life of Shu Uemura cleansing oils

In the past I've purchased the Shu Uemura Anti/Oxi cleansing oil and the bottle indicated that the shelf life of the oil is 18 months once opened for the 450ml.  I've recently repurchased another bottle and this time the shelf life is 6 months.  This oil usually lasts me a year.  My question is, will it be a problem if I use this oil past it's shelf life?  Did they change their formulation to effect the potency?

Re: Shelf life of Shu Uemura cleansing oils

Thanks for the helpful info.  I find it weird that they've changed the shelf life label from 18 months to 6 months.  Had me feeling a little concerned because the 450ml bottle is a lot.  Their large bottle usually lasts me a year and this is with daily use.  *thumbs up*

Re: Shelf life of Shu Uemura cleansing oils

Some oils have an indefinite shelf life while some last for a minimum of 1 year. Nonetheless, oil lasts longer than any other beauty product out there regardless if it's Mineral Oil or Naturally- derived Oil. If the oil you have is still sealed, but is around 2 or 3 years old already, that is still okay to use as long as it's truly sealed, stored in a dark area under room temperature, or in a refrigerator-just use it within one year after opening. If the oil has changed its consistency and smells funky, rancid, or funny already, don't think twice-throw it away.

As a side note, Jojoba and Coconut are the oils that have an indefinite shelf life, while Rosehip Oil has the shortest shelf life at 6 months.
