Sensitive skin

do you guys have any recommendations for skincare for sensitive skin, my skin is extremely sensitive and I was at some point using cerave and now it burns in my face bc of the hyaluronic  acid, this has happened a couple times and I don’t know what to change it for

Re: Sensitive skin

I don't think sephora has this on but I recomend Byoma.

Re: Sensitive skin

I work in a derm clinic and hear this often. The doctor will commonly recommend a thicker moisturizer that has very plain and simple ingredients.  Even just plain vaseline or aquaphor may be soothing too. Think about getting a gentle cleanser, and if you're using any retinol/retinoids that might be causing irritation.

Re: Sensitive skin

@siluvssy  What’s your skincare routine (brands + product names), from cleanser to sunscreen? You mentioned CeraVe: exactly which of their products were you using? What other brands” products were you using, if any? I don’t want to recommend anything without knowing what you’ve been using.

It’s certainly possible to be sensitive to hyaluronic acid, just as it’s possible to be sensitive to nearly ANY ingredient. A true hyaluronic acid allergy is quite rare, but allergy =/= sensitivity. Your irritation could be caused by overuse of one of the products in your routine, or from one or more ingredients in something you use.

@siluvssy

Agreed, so so many products now are made with HA and I am sorry to hear that HA has also caused trouble for you.

Try to calm your skin with gentler products,  and then speak with a sephora staff Im sure you will find something that will work better!

Re: Sensitive skin

@siluvssy Interesting that hyaluronic acid burns your skin. I know some people get weary when they see the word “acid” but just because something is an acid doesn’t mean it’s inherently dangerous or bad.

HA is naturally produced by your skin and helps draw in more moisture from the surrounding environment, so you generally want it in a skincare product especially if you have dry skin. And since it’s already naturally present in skin, it’s very rare for people to have sensitivity to it.

I have sensitive skin too. I’ve been using Tower 28’s product lineup and it’s been super helpful at dealing with my skin issues.

Tower 28 Beauty SOS Daily Hypochlorous Acid Spray for Breakouts & Redness 4 oz/ 120 mL

Tower 28 Beauty SOS Intensive Redness Relief Serum with Hypochlorous Acid 2 oz / 59 mL

Tower 28 Beauty SOS Daily Skin Barrier Redness Recovery Moisturizer 1.86 oz / 55 ml

Re: Sensitive skin

I have very sensitive skin, I can't use CeraVe either it totally burns my skin. Naturium multi-peptide moisturizer, Purito Panthenol Re-barrier cream, are both very gentle and moisturizing. For a gel cream I recommend Iunik centella calming gel cream. Those are all relatively inexpensive options that I really like. For an expensive option Summer Fridays dream Oasis deep hydration serum is excellent, they also have a gel cream that's quite gentle.
