So I recently discovered #The Ordinary Soothing & Barrier Support Serum 1 oz / 30 ml. Many people asked me about my thoughts, so I’ll try to chronicle my used of it here.
For context, I have battled eczema all my life. A few years ago, it started to flare up on my face, leaving my skin feeling dry, itchy, and sometimes flakey. I’ve tried a multitude of products to try and repair my skin.
Tagging @QueenMarceline @Ispend2much6 @CynthieLu since you all asked about it.
Is it good for acne and acne scars?
I also have dry skin that peels!
I hope it works for you!!!
@winniethepoohs It’s been helpful for me over the past month. Looking at the ingredients list, this might be better suited for helping with the healing process but not so much with preventing or reducing acne. A cleanser the the right active ingredients would be better suited for that.
Thank you for telling me!
It’s been a full month since I started using this serum. It helped dial back flakiness and brought back some smoothness to my skin. Abrasions/cuts started healing and my skin is feeling good enough to the point that I feel comfortable wearing a full face of makeup again.
I ran out last week and tried to go without it for a bit but I could feel my skin longing for it, so I bought another. If anyone is having a rough time with their skin barrier, I definitely recommend giving this one a try.
@JoSometimes I followed your recommendation of azelaic acid and it really helped me with healing so I'm super intrigued about this one now.
@makeitup305 I’m so glad to hear it helped! I can’t take all the credit though. I got the idea from @CynthieLu.
I love hearing about products working for troubled skin, I'm glad to hear you found something helpful. @makeitup305 @JoSometimes We all share the good tips with each other. 😉💞
@CynthieLu @JoSometimes I actually just ordered a 20% azelaic from an Dermatica (I think it's EU based) to try as a spot treatment. I will report back once it arrives and I put it to the test.
Crossing my fingers for you @makeitup305 I hope it's very effective. 💕🙏
I feel like I've heard of that one but I can't quite recall. 🤔
Day Five? (I’ve already lost count…): My skin is not nearly as flakey as it was when I first started and I’m not quite as itchy as I was five days ago. It’s down to a few small patches. I forgot to mention that I also pulled most actives out of my routine to give this a fair try and avoid any mixing of counterintuitive ingredients that would cancel out any benefit from this serum.
that's awesome @JoSometimes !
it really is @makeitup305! My skin keeps getting so close to normal and then flares up again, undoing all the healing. Hopefully this is what I need to get my skin back to normal.
@JoSometimes this seems to be getting pretty good reviews so I hope it ends up working out for you! I'm definitely interested in following your Chronicles 🙂
Thank you @CookieGirl1! It’s working pretty well so far! 🩷
@JoSometimes good luck!
Thank you @makeitup305! 😊
Interesting color @JoSometimes I would of never guessed!
@lmaster Haha, same here was definitely not expecting that 🤣 it's definitely a very pretty color though! @JoSometimes
@QueenMarceline Some cultures have a thing about products and even food having colour. Like if it doesn’t have colour, it’s probably watered down. Part of me wonders if that’s what it is… 🤔
@JoSometimes That could very well be it and makes total sense.
