Recommendation for makeup sinking into pores

Hello lovelies! I have large pores and am having issues with my makeup sinking into my pores a few hours after I put it on. My makeup looks great and sits on top of my skin nicely for a few hours then by lunch time it is all sunken in. I will break down my routine for you but am open to any and all tips, tricks and products for keeping makeup on top of my skin all day. I have tried 5 pore primers, benefits porefessional, Becca’s matte and poreless, dr Brandt pores no more, urban decay deslick, and IT cosmetics bye bye pores. My favorite has been the porefessional so far. I use MAC’s matte foundation with SPF I feel like my skin care routine is pretty solid but please let me know if you have any thoughts! My morning is washing my face with my Luna mini and exfolikate face wash followed by Sunday Riley’s autocorrect eye cream and her vitamin c cream as well. My night time routine is remove my makeup with wipes then wash my face with my luna and fresh soy cleanser (once a week I also do use Peter Thomas Roth’s firma peel gel), the. I apply Sunday Riley’s Luna oil, good genes serum, autocorrect eye cream and lastly drunk elephants protini mousturizer. As for makeup I am currently priming with benefits porefessional, use MAC matte foundation with SPF then set with Laura mercier translucent seating powder and Kate Summerville sunscreen setting spray. Sorry for the super long post but if anyone has ANY suggestions on how I can keep my makeup from sinking into my pores I would be very appreciative!

RE: Recommendation for makeup sinking into pores

How about Chanel foundation? Very rich pigments so probably won’t “ sink in” as badly. Just got some ( strayed from Sephora to Nordstrom for this one) and love it.

Wow I’m loving all the suggestions! I just wanted to leave another comment as one of my favorite artists mentioned using Kat Von D’s blotting powder covers all of her pores perfectly. I was pretty surprised to hear this but I’m definitely going to try it!

Re: Recommendation for makeup sinking into pores

So just a little PSA for all you lovely ladies who have issues with pores. A Sephora employee told me to ditch the silicone primer for pores and try a moisturizing primer on the problem pore areas (mainly my cheeks), I am still using a mattifying primer on my t-zone. As you can imagine I was EXTREMELY skeptical of this so she gave me a sample. Well I have used that sample the past few days and I am addicted! I never thought that a moisturizing primer would be the answer to my crater like pores. Here is a picture of how my makeup looks right now when normally it would be super sunken in. The primer she recommended was Smashbox moisturizer plus primer. I also used MAC strobe cream under as well for a dewy and glowy finish. sf.png

@sparkles0913 You're pretty much hitting all your bases so good job on that! Rember that pore size is often determined by a few factors such as; genetics, age, skin type, life style and so so many other thing.  That being said, it can take a really long time for some to see results. What you're doing sounds great. But here are a few other things for you to try. A pore refining mud mask is a great way to kick up your results a notch. Also try layering another primer with the one you're currently loving, Tatcha Silk Canvas is specifically for keeping makeup and pollutants out of skin. If you want something a little more pore filling than Porefessional, try Tarte timeless smoothing primer.

Re: Recommendation for makeup sinking into pores

Have you tried the Benefit pore perfecting primer?! Hands down the best primer I’ve ever used. Feels like silk too.

Re: Recommendation for makeup sinking into pores

yes I use that and it is the best pore filling primer I have tried but my makeup still sinks into my pores after a few hours.

Re: Recommendation for makeup sinking into pores

Oh no... 😞 I’m not sure what else to suggest. The Porefessional primer is my go to.. hopefully someone else knows of a good product!

Re: Recommendation for makeup sinking into pores

Thanks for trying! 🙂
